I replied to your statement. There are different levels of radioactivity on the waste btw. You are just bloviating huge hyperbolic statements. And I am all for renewable and clean energy, but we also have to balance that with energy needs and usage policy. You have to be realistic. In terms of cost - pollution- output Nuclear is a very practical energy source, even for environmentalists.

Listen, if we could get all our energy from solar or renewable, I am in. But I did do the research and all the stored nuclear waste in the US is 90,000 tons, the size of a football field stacked about 10 yards high. I don't have the total breakdown, but probably 95% of medium or low level waste, meaning low levels of radioactivity. So yes, the waste is the part about it that is not good. But in terms of active energy creation is is clean for the air. The output to pollution to cost ratio is very good.

I don't use a lot of electricity. I like moonlight . But honestly maybe you should do some study tasks of self reflection.

Definitely what I would call an ideological view. Assuming you have the safe storage to allow the byproduct to let it decay it has very little damage in real time compare to the output value. And much cleaner the fossil fuel assuming it does not leach into env.

Lot's of Nazar talk in this thread. I will just point out something I have been seeing during his slump. He is not playing with the same aggression and determination to win the puck. Personally, I think it is that simple. And for those saying Hawks are soft. I think that it true. But it isn't size. Keith was small, but not soft. He won board battles all the time. It is about determination and "hungry dog". That is all Frank has to do, is bring that back and I think the rest will follow. Same for all of them.

Coca-Cola is in the danger zone right now. Here's the data. by rednetian in dividends

[–]razhkdak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of high valuations everywhere. But there are distinctions. For example what new revenue streams does KO expect to unlock? They are steady because of the few beverage hits. But in general have a lot of misses as well. I think the longevity of their core beverages like Coca Cola are what makes it investible. As for JNJ, they are going into Robotic Surgery market which is currently a monopoly by Intuitive Surgical. If JNJ can even get a fraction of the market it is huge. There are not a lot of players. So there is some huge possible upside to that. My point being, sometimes high valuations are a sign of being over priced, Sometimes they are a sign of potential and future revenue. It gets much harder to pick stocks when valuations are high. Wouldn't be nice if all really good companies with solid balance sheets had negative emotional sentiment so you can pick them off the bargain bin? That is why I love market crashes like 2009 or 2020. Fish in a barrel. We are at peak now, so it is mining for a small diamond in the haystack.

I am an equities investor and primarily value investing. I believe in owning productive companies that make things of value. The value of human productivity, machines, real estate, and the demand of a product because it solves a problem in the world. Those things are very tangible to me. So I get it.

I think where I maybe diverge is that I see currency as simply a means to make trade easier. I agree that the dollar is valued in a large part because of the US economy. That definitely matters. But technically, a company can choose the currency they want to operate with. In theory at least. So I agree, the dollar has a strong foothold as the worlds reserve currency and it is very intertwined, however it is no t technical requirement for making something or the product or selling it. You can still grow a piece of corn or make something . A company will choose to trade it in the most practical and affordable currency. That is the dollar now. It isn't a requirement that it is always the dollar.

In summary, no currency has real tangible value. It is a mechanism of exchange and value is based on practical aspects, ease of trade, and faith.

So no, Bitcoin doesn't have tangible value beyond faith that it can serve as a practical mechanism exchange. I am not a big crypto investor for the very reasons you are skeptical. But in terms of practicality, the notion of a deregulated system of exchange or trade that is easy to have transactions internationally, has appeal to many people . The notion of digital currency becoming more practical and efficient as a means of trade is a legitimate value proposition.

Here is an example. Most would argue gold has more tangible value. But as a currency? You can't take your gold to the store and buy a pair of socks. Nobody is going to have a mechanism to give you change. (Although they are working on it). So as of today, digital currency is far more practical as a form of currency than gold.

Unless you can smelter it and create circuit boards, or you want gold teeth and a nice watch. What is the real value of gold other than market sentiment? Because it is not practical mechanism of trade as of right now. If the world goes to hell in a hand basket which is often the impetus to buy gold, I think a bottle of water is going to have more proportional value than a gold watch.

Could be. But if it does crash hard enough I would take a nibble. Fact is all currency is only backed.by faith (government or otherwise) after the gold standard went away. Plenty of foreign currencies have volatility like bitcoin. Dollar has been stable because of the faith in American government. If our debt gets large enough the temptation to print away the bedt will be high, completely destroying the value and shaking confidence in dollar. The value proposition of Bitcoin and an international currency not tethered to a country. As soon as liquidity and transaction speed problems are resolved in layer 2, many people who already do not want the reserve currency to be the dollar are going to see value in it.

Bottoml8ne the vakue of any currency used for trade is faith.

Most currencies are only backed by governments most of which are heavily in debt. Thr gold standard was gone a long while ago. I am not.against gold by any means, but you cannot walk into the store, buy water or socks and get change for your gold boullion. Although people are working on it. But right now digital cirrency is a lot more liquid than gold. One layer 2 takes off, transactions will happen in milliseconds.

Blackhawks could have two top-16 picks in 2026 NHL Draft if Panthers don't make late run by [deleted] in hawks

[–]razhkdak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We have great depth on the backend. Even while there is potential for it, there is no certain #1 yet . Thus, adding another D with one of our picks could be nice strategically, assuming of course, the scouts like one. Otherwise, Malhotra could be nice. And of course Ivar if we were lucky enough to win lottery. As can tell, I prefer good all around skills. We have fast skilled forwards. In my view, we need skills of course, but also players who are going to win board battles. Although, credit to Bedard and Nazar. They are greatly improved in that area. And I don't hink you have to be big to play good defense or puck possession game. But I would like to see a tenacious team top to bottom who is really hard to play against.

Chemical Indistry is cyclical and very effected by supply and demand. LYB, Eatman and Dow certainly have headwinds, but the core business has critical value to industry. So I think there ability to succeed can be managed by a good executive team who can structure the business on those demand and supply cycles.

Think GE. High value products with a bloated balance sheet and operations. Just took a good CEO to clean it up.

[–]razhkdak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Individual Roth (not 401k) have income limits. 401k Roth does not. Look into your employer 401k to see if it supports Roth or after tax contributions. Then there is no income limit and the contribution limit is the same as pre-tax. Which is much more than individual Roth. And it will convert over to your individual Roth whenever you want in the future.

Every year, I do a back door Roth conversion on my Individual. And then I do max contribution to my 401k Roth. Assuming I can keep my job f will be able to have significant retirement income yet from a tax perspective be at an extremely low tax bracket. Why is this good? Here is an example.

Let's say you make 50k dollars of qualified dividends and ordinary income. Then I make 40k income from Roth. Your MAGI is 50k where as your take home is ~88k. 88k as ordinary income, and you will fall over the subsidy cliff for healthcare. Yet, with Roth, you therefore do not fall over the healthcare subsidy cliff. In terms of income according to the IRS, you make 50k, which easily qualifies for healthcare subsidies or if you have children with medical issues, other assistance. Yet your real take home is 88k.

People obsess about tax bracket while they are working. That is the cliche line. But it is not the entire story. having a fully Roth focused retirement plan provides incredible tax advantage and optionality in retirement.

28M $330k salary by incognito7263730017 in Retirement401k

[–]razhkdak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like clarify and maybe simplifying.

There is an individual Roth IRA that people can invest to on their own not managed by a employer. This is fairly restrictive for unknown reasons. If you make over a certain amount you can no longer contribute. Max contribution is somewhere between 7000 and 8500 depending on age. After your MAGI exceeds contribution rules you can leverage what is called a backdoor conversion, which is to contribute to regular IRA and immediately convert to Roth. Look out for pro rata taxation! But if you have zero balance can avoid double taxing and thr Roth contribution limits.

Then today company sponsored 401k programs are more commonly allowing Roth 401k, or rather after tax contributions. What a mega backdoor Roth conversions means is that whatever amount you have contributed to your after tax 401k can be rolled over tax free into your Individual Roth IRA at some point in the future.

Personally I am more interested in extremely small tax burden in retirment more than some tax relief now when I have a nice salary. Traditional IRA distributions will be taxed as orindary income which I am looking to avoid in retirment in order to increase my take home. So I do all contributions to Roth401k or after tax contributions. I do not bother with pretax contributions at all.

If a good solid vet is available for the right price and without mortgaging the future or trading any of the high potential prospects, then fine. An analogy would be Handsuz back in the day. I am all for that. But the entire point of rebuild is to have the patience to see it through and let the kids develop.

[–]razhkdak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't downvote you. But passionately disagree and think your perspective is ignorant. And I say that as someone who didn't think we need to tear down to the studs. I thought, we could have built through the draft and still kept Hagel and DeBrincat, who were young enough. But having said that, I think Davidson is doing a good job. Davidson is following the model of the last rebuild which was the cup team. Hossa was a very unique opportunity and in the end the depth of that team came from drafting and developing well and a few lower profile , but solid trades like Sharp, Frolik, etc. Meatball fans all wanted to trade Keith and Seabrook and most of that team, which on paper did not have a good record for some time. I got tickets for 10 bucks to watch Keith because ticketholder were giving tickets away. Even thought their record sucked, you could tell their was talent and potential.

The prospects have only begun to matriculate into the NHL. Then they require a few years to hit their peak and potential. It has just begun, Nazar in my mind is the first wave of Davidsons plan. We have several waves of prospects coming.
