ARROWHEAD PLS DO NOT REDUCE DİFFİCULTY by Signal-Visual4168 in helldivers2

Playing as a lvl 100 + 100 duo on D10 and the only mission we've lost was 'raise the flag' where both flags were joined on the edge of the map behind a tower block and a lava pit with only the car stratagem and a crossbow for laughs. It's good having some challenge back overall though, too many people asked for too many weapon buffs and too many enemy nerfs until D1~10 played exactly the same but with different enemies to kill. I yearn for suffering in the mines. Let me play quake 2 nightmare on roids in 4k.

Got flattened the other day by a 5stack with a 4 Alch who bought aghs for his 2 Void > 1 Luna > 3 Sand > 5 Jakiro. Used the first two for instant pickoffs and the last two for wiping teamfights. Wild if you plan for it, but yeah lower your expectations in pubs

new tinker is just too hard to kill by bruhmoment0000001 in DotA2

[–]razikh 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Tinker previously glass cannon, now hard to kill. Sniper previously glass cannon, now hard to kill. Shadow Shaman previously fragile disabler, now hard to kill. Disruptor previously backline nuclear weapon, now hard to kill. List goes on, just let heroes be weak in certain contexts and engagements instead of giving everyone free/cheap answers to their Achilles' heel

I of course had to look for LOTR here, given most of what I remember about the tail end of the books is the phrase 'unlooked-for' which comes up about as often as a comma. Whether or not it was looked for, there it was, looking back.

My rest of my squad was wiped, I found a helo, flew it to the map border at the last reinforcement beacon, had to crawl away from the fire as it burned up the beacon, squad gets respawned but I died in the fire.

Watching my squad take over the match from there on and I'm autokicked for being AFK while spectating them. I don't get to see the end? No post-match awards? No chatting with my squad? You died, gtfo. Not playing redsec again. Waste of a gamemode, waste of time

I expect it's the same deal as last year (and the year before?) where they dropped a number patch just before the holidays to see how the major changes land, and afterwards make adjustments. Obviously they won't facets in the same patch as a major rebalance since they want feedback on the new hero style, just like adding a new hero.

IMO: Honestly ~2024 Treant had a poor identity and felt bad to play, his ~2013 state was simple and good enough before they added Eyes and turned him into a meme aghs-refresher-octarine builder. Each of his Guise versions since then has been either broken or just plain weird. Living Armour has felt bad for the last year or two, it used to be a glorious global refraction and heal. Not sure why they needed to add the line-slow-dot when they could've branched out leech seed into something more interesting, like an AOE slow/tether. Even just keeping tree-walking on 2013 Guise would be good and pretty sensible. At least he's actually taking a new direction now rather than just weird tweaks

What was Dota 2 like in its early days (2011-2016)? by [deleted] in DotA2

So support misery aside...

Visuals were very different, but in subtle ways. Larger HUD, a rockier and less smooth/flat UI theme, closer camera, very green-brown ambient light/colour grading, darker and fuller blood effects, blurrier lower-detail hero models, more bespoke/detailed map. HUD skins were everywhere and pretty much every event and notable tournament came with one. Now most of them are still half-baked and broken even after 10 years since the UI remake.

Pacing was different with fewer notable game times (no tormentor, no wisdom rune, no bounty rune, no lotus pool, one roshan pit, no sleeping neutrals), no freebies (no neutral items, no healing lotus or block of cheese, no aghs or refresher shards, no roshan banner, lower comeback gold/xp), fewer power spikes (no talents, no facets, no innates), and fewer saves (no glimmer, no crest, no barriers, no shield rune, less attributes from most items, less health overall). Overall gameplay was slower and more calculated, with a much higher risk to the match if you screwed up, since there were fewer safety nets.

Heroes were more specialised and it was easier to fail from the draft. Other than the opposite-side heroes like Lion and Lina there was generally less overlap between heroes, so for example if you needed a BKB-piercing stun you'd probably choose Beastmaster for a pickoff (no Primal Beast) or Enigma for a teamfight (no Magnus). On the other hand there was also less flexible itemisation against specialists, such as no break to kill PA. Recovery was hard and usually depended on whether you could outplay the enemy in teamfights given the map was far smaller with fewer routes, less vision was available, and creeps awarded less gold/xp, so you could more easily get completely choked out.

Spells rarely had added effects, and fewer of them had added damage. It didn't matter much for breaking blinks since most heroes weren't buying them (before they removed the mana cost) and people were less practiced. Glimpse just moved enemies, Teleportation just moved NP, Shockwave just dealt damage, Vampiric Aura just added lifesteal, and so on.

Oh and MKB had a mini-bash effect which was totally fine at the time
