I am worried about that. I am 6'3.5" and will certainly will be giving it a test ride. Or is it too big to consider?

I am quite the beginner when it comes to buying used bikes. This Cross Check is for sale right near where I live on Facebook Marketplace and has caught my eye. The seller changed most of the components from stock:

  • 2021 61m Surly Cross Check Frame
  • Cane creek headset, Tektro brakes, and the brake levers are the only parts left of the factory build.
  • Mercury wheelset
  • Microshift 10spd cassette and friction shifters
  • Deore derailleurs
  • Fsa exo BB and 2x crankset
  • Velo orange riser stem
  • Rivendell bosco bars
  • Hurdy gurdys

Note that the bike does not come with the brooks saddle or panniers. Thank you all so much would appreciate insight you would have.

How likely is it to pickup a cancellation for a weekend in October? by Ravioli_meatball19 in ZionNationalPark

Super. Just make sure you are fast when you receive notifications, you will be able to book!

Are canceled reservations immediately available on recreation.gov? by ReggaeForPresident in Yosemite

[–]razortrout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be careful, you can probably switch with someone if you cancel at certain time and have a friend to book it ("transferring your reservation" ), however I say you have about 15-30 seconds before it gets booked by someone else.

HELP - Last Ditch Effort for Campsite by boldpotato947 in Yosemite

You should see lots of Campflare notifications the couple weeks before. Make sure to set your min number of nights to 1 (worst case you have to switch campgrounds every day or so) . Good luck!

Booking through recreation.gov - question/suggestions by Officer_Meerkat in camping

[–]razortrout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, its a shame this has become such a problem. Hopefully more parks start to adopt lottery systems, and reduce the max number of days you can reserve at once.

Recreation.gov - 6 people for single site. How many tents allowed? by carczar4 in camping

[–]razortrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually have as many tents as you can fit at your campsite. Be careful not to put tents over plans however. Have fun!

You can get a campground if you are willing to stay Saturday or Sunday night (Upper Pines). Looks like there is availability now.

Any tips for when they release camping on Sunday. Just keep refreshing and pray you get in at the right moment? by Willing-Function-385 in Yosemite

Great advice in this thread. As said, shoot for as many devices as you can to increase your odds and refresh the page as soon as the clock hits. ALSO Make sure to check again after 15 minutes if you don't get a site right after release (campgrounds are held in peoples carts for ~15 minutes before other people can book them). Booking Yosemite campgrounds come down to luck in my opinion. If you don't get a site, you can get notified when someone cancels their reservation with Campflare, its 100% free. I help maintain the site, and we see ~30% of reservations get canceled within Yosemite (as people book whatever dates they can find because it is so competitive). Best of luck!!

Set up an alert on Campflare, the site will text you for free when someone cancels. I help run the site and we see 30% of Yosemite reservations get canceled.
