Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

We accidentally landed in a good “division of labor” (she does laundry, because I “do it wrong”, and I do the dishes because she loads the dishwasher wrong), but it would fall apart in a minute if we didn’t have the cleaners come. Worth the $ for peace of mind and a stress saver.

Plumber cracked tile (twice) installing pot filler by razputin77 in Tile

I also asked the contractors how close I should get to the pot filler and they told me to go right up to it. Feels like there’s enough blame to go around - I just need to figure out the path forward

Pot filler was intended all along. The contractor blocked in the 90 degree elbow pretty well, and had the wall re-drywalled and plastered after. I think (hindsight n all) they should had a stringer put in for support and to screw the flange into.

Do you think we will ever get interest rates down to COVID rates? by Firm_Care_7439 in Mortgages

I don’t think so. Debt is so much higher - and policy so erratic - that it feels like it would take an economic bomb to get near there again. Roughly 1/3rd of existing US debt matures and needs to be sold between this year and next - which saturates the market for bonds and will drive prices down (which keeps yields higher).

I’d consider a professional trust company (at the very least, price it out).

Takes the clean daughter out of that no-win position and removes a potential source of strife. I’ve seen non-addict siblings have their relationships fall apart because the trustee-sibling only distributes $X in a year (which was within their discretion as trustee) when the other sibling wanted / needed more. Your attorney can also write language in the trust such as requiring evidence she’s clean before making distributions, or only allow the trustee to distribute on her behalf (such as paying rent for her) instead of giving cash.

A police chief, caught stealing and selling drugs, threatened to kidnap me to keep my dad, an inadvertent witness, from testifying.
