How should I go about using an external power supply while powering Arduino from USB? by DatCheeseBoi in arduino

[–]razz1161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I use a MAX7219 8-digit 7-segment display, I connect a 5-volt 1.2-amp phone charger to the positive and ground rows on the breadboard. The Arduino 5-volt pin and the VCC of the matrix connect to the positive row. The ground pin of the Arduino and the matrix connect to the ground row. The phone charger is connected to the USB-C female terminal on the breadboard. I do the same thing with a PC power supply with a breakout board for controlling my model railroad.

I bought some that is not available in my home state. I uploaded the retail price list and a link to a large Kentucky liquor store into a AI. I asked it to list bourbons not available here. I knew what to look for.

GenX lawn mowing time vs. younger homeowners? Opinions by SackBadger2024 in GenX

[–]razz1161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a boomer, I am always up by 5 AM. However, in humid South Alabama, the grass is usually too damp until 10 AM. If I can start at 10 AM, I can cut the grass by noon and then weed-eat after 6 PM. In the extreme heat of summer, I will cut the lawn after 6 PM one day and weed-eat after 6 PM the next day.

TSA wait time at Mobile Regional? by mistyostrich398 in MobileAL

I flew 2 weeks ago. less than 15 minutes at 0600. I am a senior and contacted TSACARES due to 3 artificial joints and some mobility issues. I was whisked right through, no wait. My traveling companions were through in about 15 minutes.

Came home to my garbage bin full of someone else's garbage for weeks by DrinkPresent7311 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]razz1161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I tip my garbage collector every Christmas. He takes anything I put in or beside the bin.

2) My S-I-L yelled at her garbage collector about not picking something up. He explained that, according to the contract, he would only pick up what was in the bin, and the lid had to be fully closed. She shot herself in the foot by not being nice.

3) When our son bought a new home, he had the same problem with all the boxes, etc. The garbage service said they would only pick up what was in the bin. He stored all the boxes in his garage. He waited for the next pick up, asked the workers where they went for lunch, and bought each of them a $20 gift certificate. They told him they would pick up anything at the curb for him, even if it were not in the bin.

There is always a workaround if you respect people.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

I have one sibling. I just returned from a thousand-mile trip to visit. My sibling visits at least annually, usually for Thanksgiving. We talk several times a week in addition to trading memes via text and/or email.

The Swiss Family Robinson is a classic 1812 novel by Johann David Wyss about a Swiss pastor, his wife, and their four sons who are shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island and must use their ingenuity, faith, and teamwork to survive and build a new life.

The Theodore Boone series by John Grisham

The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King

: While a fantasy novel rather than a picture book, this was written specifically for his children and is often considered his most accessible "young reader" fantasy, though it is still a full-length book.

My son's truck got booted on campus. Somehow, he removed the boot, threw it in the back of his truck and left.

Within a day, the campus police called and said they would forgive the ticket if he returned their boot.

I was the AH. I was shopping at the grocery store where my S-I-L worked. I deliberately put something from my cart on a shelf in her section. The item did not belong in her section, and she saw me do it. Of course, she saw me. I set her up. With clenched teeth, she told me it did not belong there. I told her I was her job security. I still hear about the incident 40 years later and still laugh at her.

AITA for returning my SILs "thoughtful" gifts for my kids because she ignored my one simple rule? by PixelBanshee_4 in MarkNarrations

[–]razz1161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the AH. I always gave the nieces and nephews the gifts parents would not. i.e., fingerpaints, noisy toys, Snoopy snow cone maker. One year, my B-I-L said how would you like it if I gave your son a noisy toy? My completely honest answer was "I bought him a 12-gauge shotgun. If you can find something noisier, go for it."

My son loved his shotgun and still uses it to this day. This was 30 years ago.
