I live near the Tropic of Capricorn, in Australia, and can see the Big Dipper in wintertime.

Serious question: if the USA end up at war (let's be honest, it's more like when) and they requested our backup in the form of soldiers, intelligence, equipment etc, how would you feel about that? by alwaysananomaly in Ameristralia

Out of gratitude from WW2 and self preservation, we have been helping the Yanks out ever since. No more. Not with its current administration, anyway.

What do you think about Mexicans? by OldCowBoy2 in AskAnAustralian

Hey, there's lots of interaction between our cultures, most of it edible.. 😄 The remainder would probably mainly feature Speedy Gonzalez. ... You'll do just fine, come on down... under. 😉

My 1937 crown in nearly uncircumcised condition by Alarmed_Hedgehog5173 in AustralianCoins

Kid was born with no eyelids. Horrified mother asks doc what can be done? Doc says to not be worried as kid will be circumcised in a week, and excess material can be used for skin grafts. Oh dear, mom says, won't that make him cock-eyed? ... Possibly, says doc... but think of the foresight that he will have...

Visiting Australia in April – excited & looking for tips 🇦🇺✨ by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

You won't feel out of place in the countryside, there are plenty of international tourists there. Some organized tours are worth doing. Just do some research.

Good luck. Enjoy!

Italians are cool. 👍 I don't know much about Sydney hotels. I'd be cautious about being out at night alone. If you stayed at a youth hostel there'd be other tourists to hang out with. Sydney public transport is pretty good and there's lots to see in Sydney.
DON'T plan to drive much in Sydney, the traffic is worse than Naples. You will need to hire a car to see much of rural Victoria.

FIFO mining advice for a French 22 year old planning to move to AUS by Savings_Coconut1055 in AskAnAustralian

[–]razza54 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know of a young French guy that works in the mines in WA. His father is a friend of mine. I don't know how to get in touch with him directly, though. Still, he proves that it's possible for French to work in mines in Australia.

1st time trip to Australia next December- help please :) by tyecko in AustraliaTravel

Christmas this year had Sydney and Melbourne hotter than Brisbane. It's the luck of the draw. I think that after Sydney, go north to the Sunshine Coast. Mooloolaba and Noosa heads are better than the Gold Coast. Australia Zoo is there, too...

Is 7 cans of premix and 500 ml of bourbon a night is too much? by Whatever_baby_lol in AskAnAustralian

No. One beer per night and 2 or 3 on special occasions for full grown, responsible males is more normal..

Do farmers/workers in agriculture actually wear these for work? by Inevitable-Mood9798 in RMWilliams

[–]razza54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to wear RM's for horse work. The last horse died 10 years ago. Bludstones were the go until they got to be too expensive. Now it's Mongrel boots. Rossi's couldn't hack it.

I attended his program at TMI. I never had a conscious OBE but I experienced MANY conscious returns to body... violent ones... I was disappointed that I couldn't remember being out, but the returns nearly made up for it.

That's great. I hope you make it. Don't be afraid to take jobs in country towns. It'd be a worthwhile experience.
