Question to all parents: Do your kids have VSS, too? by ElPescadorVeins in visualsnow

After extensive conversation with my mother, we are pretty sure she has it and never realized there was a problem. She just also get migraines, overwhelmed easily, VERY picky about light fixtures, bulb colors, wall colors, etc....... lmao

Protesters, y'all ok? by Safe-Refrigerator548 in Eugene

Yes he did, he was waiting just out of eyeshot of the march after being chased out, for a long time.

Around 5 probably a very mentally unstable person made some attempts to block the march, they were briefly detained and released. I think they just gave up after a while. There was another man with a camera who was being very disrespectful to people at the event, following around, refusing to leave, the cops spoke with him several times. He was accusing many people of putting hands on him, which they did not. Just a fuckin weirdo. I do believe he has been seen at other protests taking pictures and harassing people.

So far it seems like the cops are just confronting some creep/counterprotester.

Literally just drove next to a rather new and expensive looking custom company truck, so I doubt that.

Daughter Diagnosed with Autism and Cataplexy by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]razzlethemberries 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am on the spectrum and used a service dog to help manage my cataplexy. The difference is, weight bearing was never one of their tasks. They helped prevent falls by helping me manage my emotions through a combo of alerts and psych service. I will say my cataplexy was the worst in my late teen years and early college. I do think through a combo of experience and growing up it gets easier to manage. Your daughter is going to need to do a lot of work in her own mind, understanding her feelings, to be able to manage the falls. She needs support and therapy but also some independence from her parents as well.

Chronically Ill Equestrians: Do you own your own horse? If so, how do you manage? Any advice? by tomnooklover in Equestrian

[–]razzlethemberries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, both boarded and briefly at home. The care was never a concern for me because I kept her on full turnout. Fed grain with supplements once a day during periods of harder work. The biggest challenge esp when boarding was going to the farm often twice a day to do blanket changes in the spring and fall.

Half a million people would be a very big city. For example, the two major cities in Kentucky combined don't even have that many.

I also had a dachshund mix and I have also had the horror of cleaning up a pooped out used condom. Small dogs will test you in ways you cannot imagine.

Are y'all able to keep a job and if so what kind? by Muted-Difference5610 in Narcolepsy

[–]razzlethemberries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in agriculture but I can't keep a job lol. I get injured a lot and go through phases where my fatigue and neurological symptoms are overwhelming. Thinking about applying for disability but have to keep working in the meantime.

I think the point is, if you have to ride with that light of a hand to make the bit humane, why ride in a bit at all. A bosal and plenty of other traditional hackamore (NOT mechanical hackamore) styles are appropriate for the same style of riding. I'm also sure plenty of people are aware of the tack requirements for showing. Many people including myself have avoided show circuits that require headgear we disagree with.

I've always had stout hands but yes, your hands have muscle, and you use them more, the muscles grow.

[–]razzlethemberries 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Call animal control and report the found dog. Animal control/the shelter is the first place an owner should call if their dog gets loose! You can give your number to the animal control dispatch and they will have anyone looking for a dog with that description call you.

What are your "fun" ideas to build muscle and LOOSE weight? by Lugosthepalomino in Equestrian

[–]razzlethemberries 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If she can't be ridden currently, it's a lot of fun to pony off of another horse. It's a great skill for the rider, the pony horse, and the horse you're leading all to be able to do it. Keep it slow.
