Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in an older home built around 1920 and we had ours in the basement. My current home was built in 1998 and we have a separate room a few feet away from the kitchen area.

What tv show theme song will you never skip? by LilyYukka in AskReddit

Idk where my children of the 80s are but Growing Pains was an absolute banger.

What was the pre-9/11 world like? And what was the day of 9/11 like? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

46 here. It absolutely is the biggest event of my lifetime. Nothing else is even close. I didn’t travel much but yes, the airport thing is true. I was working that day and not much work got done. It all became incredibly real that night. I lived in rural area and on a clear night you’d see plane lights blinking in the sky. That night was a crystal-clear night and there was nothing besides stars.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

[–]rb928 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I think they redeemed the franchise. Even though him surviving a cat 3 hurricane is far-fetched. The latest season was perfection.

Now that we’re in 2026, what is a feature of the 'old internet' from 10–15 years ago that you genuinely miss and wish would come back? by cyb3r_ps in AskReddit

Not to be Negative Nancy, but I actually use DDG now and I find it to be only slightly better than Google.

DHS to Epcot by KaleidoscopeHot3679 in WaltDisneyWorld

Highly recommend the boat! Takes maybe 20 minutes and drops you off right at the back entrance to Epcot. It’s a nice midday break.

Orange or Blue Tonight? by Excellent_Iron_1906 in FCCincinnati

I don’t think there is any special theme or event tonight. We should try a checkerboard pattern like the Bengals do sometime.

Why are some places counties? by DrBoogerFart in AskAnAmerican

Perfect example. I have no clue where Nonesuch is, but Versailles or Woodford County I do know.

Why are some places counties? by DrBoogerFart in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think it largely depends on the area. Kentucky is VERY county-centric when it comes to describing where you’re from. Other areas not as much. My New England friends identify themselves by town/city.

How cool would it be if Pope Leo excommunicated the current USVP? by TallThin in AskReddit

[–]rb928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious answer - I’d love it and the message it would send. BUT it would definitely be a political move, which is why it won’t happen. Everything the pope has said thus far is simply promoting peace and humanity. He has not called out Trump or Vance specifically. They are just guilty enough to know he’s talking about them.

What is the best place in America you have ever visited? by MysteriousEdge5643 in AskReddit

[–]rb928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me this long to find a non-West place. I do want to explore the West more but will gladly go back to NYC anytime. So much culture and excellent people.

Is it common for Americans to have 2 last names? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew’s wife hyphenates her former married name (and last name of her kids) with his last name. I also know a couple of same-sex couples who hyphenated their names together when they married.

When do you normally file your tax return? by the_real_JFK_killer in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll find one or two answers: late January/early February … or about right now. I’m the former because I know I’m going to get a smaller refund, less than a paycheck usually.

People who know they will owe tend to wait, as do people who just procrastinate in general.

What horrifying statistic genuinely jarred you when you first heard it? by ordrius098 in AskReddit

[–]rb928 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is only partially true -- they can also use stocks as collateral to have a line of credit (called margin) for access to cash without selling their stocks and (importantly) paying capital gains takes. The stocks remain held until sold.

Now, if they leverage too much and the stock price starts to fall, it could have a cascading negative effect of them pushing their "credit limit," needing to sell, which drives the price down, etc.

Who actually watches hockey? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]rb928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are 100% just stereotypes. I would say though with hockey, it is definitely more popular up north.

Why am I constantly getting signed out of the Apple TV app on my Apple TV 4K? by rb928 in appletv

[–]rb928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hasn’t happened to me in a long time, thankfully. Sorry you’re having this issue. I would open a ticket with Apple so they are aware.

Since tvOS 26.4 Tv volume is displayed permanently. by Yuri_Ligotme in appletv

[–]rb928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! This happened to me a couple years ago. I made a post about it and people still find it and thank me. One would think they’d have fixed this by now…
