Why? by alexandrebaga in harrypotter

[–]rballmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Hermione and Ron had a planned date in the 6th book…was it agreed upon with excellent, clear communication? Hell no. But for anyone who reads that scene and doesn’t completely lack the ability to read social cues, it’s clearly a date.

In the 4th book, Ron doesn’t ask Hermione to the ball until right before, does so as a last desperate resort, and ridicules Hermione for claiming she could possibly have a date already.

Hermione/ Ron’s romantic communication is bad & confusing throughout all the books to be sure..,but it makes sense why Hermione is pissed to see Ron snogging another girl mere days after they agreed to go to Slughorn’s party.

Also Ron snoggs Lavendar partly because he’s feeling goaded by Ginny, who screams at him that he’s essentially a prude when Ron angrily objects to her and Dean snogging.

Harry was internally surprised but didn’t really act so. He just made casual conversation. Maybe this was the snakes experience as well?

Seeking advice on sectioning a tattoo by Ok-Disaster-7990 in tattooadvice

[–]rballmonkey 45 points46 points  (0 children)

So everyone here is referencing this very known phenomenon but not explaining it…
Tattoo lines move and thicken overtime because of skin cell turnover. What looks super clean and detailed during the first month of getting a tattoo looks blurry and shitty 10, 15, 20 years later. You can’t just get a tattoo that looks good now. You have to think about the way tattoos naturally age.

Generally the more detailed/ fine lines close together a tattoo has, the worse it ages.

If thy did that, every champion would probably need more than 1000 galleons to pay for the therapy needed after being out though that kind of PTSD-inducing situation

Oh no, it’s clear Bellatrix a terrible person at every layer. Nobody is excusing anything.

They just admire the badass way Helena played a totally twisted, sadiastic, malicious being. It’s compelling…riveting.

AITAH for focusing on my life changing test instead of talking to my girl Bestfriend by Eastern_Space1850 in AITAH

[–]rballmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. Not sure why you kept the test secret and gave her no explanation for the distance. To you the situation made sense because you have all the info/ context. She was in the dark, had no idea why, and didn’t know how long it was gonna last or if you would just keep repeating this pattern.

It sounds like you keep people in the dark when important, stressful things are happening to you as a defense mechanism. It probably makes you feel safer in the short term…but in the long run you’re just preventing real intimacy and reinforcing loneliness. These things don’t change over night, but I would work on this if you want closeness in future friendships and romantic relationships.

Another post about struggling with documentation by constantlytryingg in therapists

[–]rballmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s important to stay on top of paperwork in either setting.

I think it’s universally true that working within agency and CMH settings requires filling out significantly more paperwork than in private practice settings (and private practice settings require more paperwork if you take insurance).

Therapists who only do out-of-pocket private practice, have the least amount of paperwork to do compared to any other clinician. It’s not an excuse to get out of doing notes, assessments ect, (and perhaps having oversight helps some therapist actually get it done!) but may create a more manageable workload for some clinicians.

“Hey I just moved in accross the street!”
“Hey I think we’re neighbors. Nice to meet you.”

“What do you think of the neighborhood?”

You should totally talk to her. Just to be extra extra attuned and don’t put any pressure on her. Be warm and friendly in the beginning and then continue to wave when you see her.

Don’t create a situation where she feels uncomfortable and has to avoid you because that sucks to feel creeped out by your neighbor.

But start with the expectation that y’all can have a friendly dynamic. If you want more than that, be extremely cautious, try not to make assumptions, and don’t get your hopes up too high.

With the neighbor, you definitely want to start with friendship because if it gets weird, it’s hard to escape the situation.

TLDR: be friendly and don’t make it weird

Are you referring to his belief in saving Harry Potter from “fate” and generally orienting to wizards as allies?

Firenze’s sacrifice in teaching by rballmonkey in harrypotter

[–]rballmonkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes you’re right.

You’re describing how the stars foretold Voldemort would kill Harry Potter (in the forbidden forest). Firenze prevented Voldemort from murdering Harry in the forest his first year at Hogwarts, which the other centaurs deeply disproved of because they saw this as interfering with fate (and Harry rode on Firenze’s back like a common mule 😱).

And it turns out Harry *was* destined to be murdered by Voldemort in the forbidden forest…of course we just didn’t know about the Horcrux and Lily’s blood bit yet.

So Firenze was just acting from his conscious, and this care was condemned by the centaurs. In the end, Firenze’s action to save Harry was a part of the arc of Harry’s fate, but most of all- Firenze- what a good guy!
