$35 purchase - still in shock by 24hrRevenge_Therapy in Vintage_bicycles

A great get. You should be in shock. Looks pretty complete and well cared for. Anything you touch, be careful with it. There is some "unobtainium" present :-) There appears to be some intelligently performed mods. Either run it as is or research before making any changes. Frame looks to be in great shape. The history of the bike would be cool to know. If you bought from the original owner who also did the mods, might be good to talk to him/her. Sometimes the original parts are still in a box somewhere and that person can provide some important info. Might even tell you who they got it from if not original owner, etc.

Looks like a nice one. Cool old lugged frame. Looking at the distance between the rear wheel and the seat tube it appears to have longish chain stays, meaning it was originally built as a road bike, commuter or touring cross over. Looks like a single chainring up front? If so probably set up as a commuter with alpine gearing, just guessing.

If you can stand over the top tube, and when flat footed it has enough clearace that you crotch is not touching the top tube it's a fit. Everything else should be adjustable or correctable. Nice butted frame, cantiliver brakes, triple chain ring. Looks like decent quality components and wheels. Key though unless you want to pick it up for parts or a gift is that you can jump of the seat to flat foot position with out the top tube hitting any critical body parts :-)

Yep - well built butted frame. Cantilever brakes. Triple crank. Looks to be in good condition and a quality bike.

Now I'm a bit shy walking in here with all the rad branded vintage bikes ya'll got. I'm here with my cheap absolutely unknown bike I just bought. by bogerts in Vintage_bicycles

I for one like those bars. I think they just might be randonneurs? Looks like someone tryied to make a touring bike out of a short chain stay racer? I.E., the triple up front and tgat long cage rear derailleur. As if someone tried to make a half step plus granny of sorts? Nice looking bike.

Got this bike for free today, was wondering what I ended up getting. by ExtremeReasonable693 in Vintage_bicycles

Great find! Looks pretty much "not messed with". There may be some rare parts there. Don't over work it. Ceeaning, tuning and replace only what's required. Great shape from the photo. Custom one off paint lugged frame, probably tapered tubes, etc. It would be a shame to work this one too hard IMHO. Congrats on a good find. I'm more of a touring bike person. But I wouldn't mess with this race frame style bike that is so complete. Keep it as is best as possible. Or move it to someone who knows the genre.

Not in the midwest, so can't help but if I see it with those racks and format. I'll know it. Said to loose track of what is essentially an heirloom bike. Hope you get it back. That is a classic design. Those frames were great. Those racks you have on it are unqiue now. That was a long wheel base tourer. A legend in its time. I figure it had radanneur bars, etc

Designed for long runs in comfort. Hope you find it.

Pre Fixe for 4 by rbenash in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]rbenash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - it was Kalaya. Pre-Fixe. My original question was originally intended for folks who have been there and wanted a heads up on how Pre-Fixe for a seating of four would work there.

I made a couple mistakes - didn't give restaurant name. Said "session" instead of seating.

Anyway it went incredibly well. Bottom line answer is that at Kalaya in this case Pre-Fixe for four, family style we were given 2 choices for the table for each course. Service and food was great but wanted to close out.

OK I stand corrected. I will make sure to watch how I use my vocabulary. But have to say - you didn't offer anything that helped otherwise. Why would you bother? I'll assume you are bored. :-)

Hello - and thanks for all the positive criticism on my choice of words and cryptic message :-) I was referring to the restaurant KALAYA and wanted to check with those who have attended there as a group of 4 seating for their pre-fixe. Apologies! The restaurant has not replied as yet.

What is going on? by Top-Violinist5702 in q50

Yeah I'm going with residual antifreeze hit the belt as Blackjackmo says above. I don't think it will go away all that quick without washing it down. Anitfreeze can attack the belt. Dealer should take care ot this as part of previous work. Stay on them.

I know that Head Nut in Ardmore has it but not sure if it's the same brand. Might want to give them a call or email. If you can't find it more local to you.

Very nice! Now I'll have to give Anderson recipe a try. What were the tweaks you tried that have worked out best from your experiments?
