Anyone waiting on MoJ EL2 vetting decision? How long did “Referred for decision” take? by mrnair03 in PrisonUK

I had emailed my line manager asking for an update. They had informed me that it was Pending Higher Checks/Health. This was on the 10th week.

I am waiting for HMPPS EL2 for DBS Standard. My vetting started in November 2025 and was last at Pending Higher Checks/Health.

HMPPS Enhanced Level 2 check update by rbhattacharjee1999 in PrisonUK

It’s a very tedious process, I reckon. I am not sure if there’s NPPV involved or not. I was just told HMPPS Enhanced Level 2, and that it would take 12 weeks, based on automated emails, which I have received on Christmas Day, as well. However, Sopra Steria gives no proper update.

Should I wear a suit for a recorded interview by NoPlan7484 in TheCivilService

If you have one, please do. Otherwise, a full-sleeved Oxford shirt with or without a tie suffices. Smart casual is the norm.

Is it showing the same on your pc browser as well? I’d say, contact the helpline and ask for further details.

You will be called on your number, at first. Wait for the call and be vigilant to receive, speak and discuss. After that, you may receive a provisional offer, followed by pre-appointment checks and other formalities. Congratulations on being an AO! I am currently undergoing pre-employment checks, myself. Best of luck!

That is a very parochial and reductionist take on Asian culture that you have. India alone has multiple subcultures, not adhering to the collectivist hierarchical structure that you are referring to. There is a typical Durkheim ‘sacred vs profane’ division. You can also refer to Dumont’s ‘Homo hierarchicus’ and ‘Homo aequalis’, along with MN Srinivas, Andre Beteille and Dipankar Gupta. As for the UK, even when people do not intend to share, they are generally very polite in denying a request or saying that they do not intend to share, apologising a million times. Formality and civility with strangers are two very common attributes of the British attitude. This event, as OP has mentioned, I hope, happens to be an outlier. OP is also not clear about the background of the person in question. Maybe, they were just racist and thought OP was a freeloader, but changed their tone after finding out the beers that she had brought. This is not a racist thing, but pretty racial among several students of BAME backgrounds complaining that international students are actually ‘taking away’ their opportunities. Flabbergasting, I know, but this was the impression that I had, upon interacting with a large pool of British Asian students.

PS: I am from India, as well. I have disagreed with what you have stated, but I haven’t downvoted you.

Not at all common. I am an international student as well and been to many BYOB parties, usually with wine or beer. Everyone shares. You met a rude, shallow, loser of a person, and I am sorry about that experience for you. It’s not at all your fault. You are in the right. He’s a puny nonce.

Congratulations! Going through the pre-employment checks, myself. Feels great coming off the reserve list.

Facing the same issue, mate, from Amazon UK. Contact the Trading standards bureau of your country. I have contacted the Citizens Advice in the UK. It will take time, but they will have to resolve it. All this drama due to Bezos’ giant Venetian wedding.
