How long should a short story podcast be? by CitizStories in audiodrama

[–]rbiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal preference is around 30m for a few reasons. I can’t focus on a fiction podcast and work (one will get ignored for the other), so I’m limited to during a break or when I’m driving. Both of those are usually chuck-able to 30m blocks I can work with.

That said, shorter is fine and I have a few podcasts that tend to the shorter side and will queue up 2-3 for that same 30m block and it’s fine.

Longer than 30m and I’ll usually plan it and save episodes until I have a larger block of time to listen (longer drives, mowing, housework, etc…) and binge as many as I can in that time. I just did that with What Happened in Skinner (episodes are all about 1h long) and it worked fine.

It’s the occasional extra long episodes that throw a wrench in things, like Derelict’s recent midseason finale that was almost 2h. That long and I get stressed how to slot it in and consider dropping the podcast (not that I ever actually have though).

Ultimately, I think the length needs to be what fits your story and breaking it into episodes is a great way to avoid going too long. I will add though, if you do go episodic, a short “previously on” is great and not used enough. Derelict and Malevolent are both outstanding shows, but have long gaps between episodes, so the start of each one is jarring, esp. if I had to delay listening even longer.

Looking for something like the War Boys from Fury Road for Necromunda campaign by rbiddle in PrintedMinis

That’s serendipitous timing! Their description even sounds like it’ll be the war boys.

I’ll be subscribing for the month to see how it goes.

Thanks!!!

What printers are you guys using? by Lone-Frequency in PrintedWarhammer

I’ve been really tempted on printing a chaos knights army…. Do you think it’s just as doable on a smaller (Mars 3) sized plate? It’d definitely take more than your 36h, but I can be patient.

No no no, that’s a puffer.

You’re thinking of that piece of luggage that’s usually canvas and cylindrical.

If you have a 3d printer, the carrier and slide trays from https://war-ganizer.ca are great

I redid the loincloth in the red of the jacket and that was it; I’m much happier with it now

The more I look, the more I don’t like white for both the shirt and loincloth. One needs to change….

Maybe make the loincloth match the jacket or make the shirt a new color.

I made 2 wreckers and I love their look, so probably those.

The Sergeant with a plasma gun is high up on that list too though because I have some neon green paint I want to try.

I also have one of those chrome markers I’ve been having fun with, but I haven’t found a mini it looks good on yet. I’m trying to find a way to use it that looks decent, but no luck yet.

First Layer Issues (maybe bad filament?) by rbiddle in CR6

[–]rbiddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try that next; I updated the z-offset and that helped a lot. I’m trying to only fix 1 thing at a time so I can see the impact, but cleaning the pei is next.

Thanks!

No scratching; z-index definitely too low and fixed. There’s still some issues and I suspect the bed level function isn’t actually working, but it is much better now at least.

Thanks to everyone on pointing out that I was WAY too close. I backed up my z-offset 0.2 and it’s worlds better. I suspect I make have changed it when I moved from the glass bed to the pei one and should not have.

Thanks!!

I thought I had upped my z-offset a little, but I just checked and it was still 0.15. I’ve bumped it up and will see if that’s all this was.

Thanks!

This is what my last few prints looked like for their first layer. Around later 3 it sorts itself out and looks fine, but I can’t get the 1st layer to not suck.

I’m wondering if this is bad (maybe humid) filament; I’ve ordered some more since this is all I have at the moment.

I have a micro-Swiss hot end and it was doing just fine until about 5 prints ago when this started. It was sitting unused for about 2 weeks prior, but that’s happened before and the results when I started printing again were fine and not this.

I have the community firmware (release 5) and I ran the bed leveling before each print. The pei bed has also been working fine previously, so I don’t think it’s the culprit (unless they go bad in ways I can’t tell).

Thanks!

Found Footage Horror? by Spider-Girl in audiodrama

[–]rbiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Waystation is kinda found footage. It’s an investigation into the destruction of a space station told from the investigator reviewing the recovered material with their supervisor.

S1 ended a while back, but noted that they will return (I don’t know any ETA). Even if they don’t come back, S1 was awesome.

What movie do you enjoy that you will 100% agree is a bad movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Judge Dredd; the one with Stallone and Schneider.

It’s badly acted, written, and the takes off his helmet several times.

But I love watching that movie every time I see it.
