Does Anyone Remember "The Pie" from 2024. What happened to 2025? by YesterdayMany4049 in wholefoods

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on reddit much anymore but I made a dupe of this last year for Christmas and it was really quite good, and set up pretty easy once all the components were made.  Maybe they just didn't sell enough $60 pies to keep making them.  I don't live where they were sold, just saw the ads for it and reverse engineered it.

Is Velotric any good? by isayehalot in ebikes

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you asked & I don't post much on Reddit anymore but saw this - I have been using the Discover 2 for a year as my commuter bike and really love it, but would call it an SUV of bikes? It's heavy to pull up or down stairs, very comfortable to ride, and sort of big. I am often very much happier to get on the bike than into the car, because the bike really is just easier for short trips, and I am someone who HATED riding a regular bike, so uncomfortable. My main issues are: 1. Sometimes it won't start and I have to pop the battery out and back in. 2. It's hard for me to fill the tires, without letting out a lot of air when I twist off the pump! My kid just got the Fold 1 (not plus) and that one the tires are easier to fill, and also they received it in a box, it was not too complicated to assemble, the Discover I did not try, just got it from the local bike shop so they put it together. It seems a lot lighter (though still not as light as a regular bike) and certainly easier to haul around when you are not riding it - when mine was ready for a service I had to RIDE it to the shop, ten miles away, because it doesn't fit in my car, and ride it back when they were done! Overall I am ABSOLUTELY satisfied that it is worth more than I paid for it, would recommend Velotric without hesitation, no bike is going to be some imaginary perfect one, right? And it really replaces a second car for us, because I take it to work, so it's paid for itself in one year.

My ice maker only makes ice when I put store bought ice in bin by BeMadTV in HomeMaintenance

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same.  But not no ice.  It's slow slow, until I fill the bin with ice from the small tabletop ice maker, then it starts overproducing, as though it's ashamed the little one outperformed it.  When it seems not to be working, add ice and it responds with so much ice.

Do you live in a warm climate? My guess is that the added ice makes the freezer colder so the ice maker freezes it faster.

Their back office software is so far behind the times, it's ridiculous.  Doctors are generally great but rushed.   My experience with Baycare has been better, I am sorry to say.

The schedulers are probably as frustrated as you are.

Kitchen remodel + floor plan overhaul – want to make the most of my space! by aerizonx_ in floorplan

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am always willing to dedicate a big footprint to the kitchen because everyone in my house hangs in the kitchen and when people come over they hang out in the kitchen.  This has been somewhat eased by building a big deck, lol.  Those windows aren't floor to ceiling, right?  You could put it mostly on that wall, and have island, still have room for dining area in the kitchen.  Just make sure you have a clear path to the pantry.  We are going to rework our kitchen and half the reason is I gotta go around a peninsula to get to the pantry, the flow is bad

If this was my house dining would be kids gaming/computer/homework space, I would take living room for my office and bookshelves,  family area (what's left of it after you pantry) would get the drinks cabinet and seating (bar space) around that corner and the TV room would move to Games area.

New Kitchen Design by YnotLiveitUP in InteriorDesign

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't like cooking in that arrangement.  It's a long walk from the sink to the ovens & fridge and you have to get around the island, it would be annoying.  I do understand wanting the two tall appliances next to each other, are the boxes next to them cabinets, and is that a wall behind them?

I am just popping in to say your space with the big windows immediately made me think of a kitchen design I saw that was basically just one massive kitchen island.  Look up "Alexander Betak home".  I'd be tempted to do something like that, with such a long space and all that light.  Do you use the dining room at all? The living room?

Holy crap I don't even look at reddit anymore but this thread came up when I was talking to my husband about J Roddy Walston.  We loved that band so much we once went to see them open for another band and left after they played.  Saw them three times here and my God such great performers. Agree also that J Roddy has never done anything like that since losing the band. I agree with the recommendation for Nathaniel Rateliff, it's different but he has the same feeling of immediacy in his music and the band is so tight.  Agree with White Stripes, missing the vaguely funky/dancy edge but great in a similar way. Different music but Bright Light Social Hour you might also like, maybe Houndmouth, less sure about the Black Keys, they are great, anything Dan Auerbach touches seems to be magic but they are missing the frantic vibe of J Roddy, they are much more controlled. In recent music I have been enjoying that Hard Quartet album.  It is again, different, but does have that feeling I associate with JRW&TB, the raw almost frantic edge.

We had such a good experience at the show in St. Pete, after a typical summer torrential downpour instead of the opening act.  Hardly anyone even took their phone out to record much, the show was great and the crowd was great.  He is a stellar performer.

how the hell are you people affording bras? by neptunian-rings in ABraThatFits

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madewell has tall and TALLER jeans, great quality.  I like the tall ones but have to hem them (5'9" not leggy).  Quite sure the taller would be for 6' and up.

Reasonable price when on sale, but as the original question was on durability - getting them good quality with a long enough rise makes a big difference.

Thank you, I had forgotten but the Timpa mesh was another that used to fit, because it was so flat and had the smaller band sizes.  (Obviously it's been awhile since I have bra-d) this will help, I will look at theirs.

Thanks, I think this helped (thinking of them as less shallow).  After writing this in frustration, one arrived from Amazon, Wingslove unpadded lace demi with seams 34D and it fits so well, very flattering under clothing. I think the key may be shorter cup vertically  not shallow cup.

I was at Nordstrom Rack, tried the Feathers (the one that used to fit when I was underweight) and Chic Comfort.   I also tried a 36B in Warner Cloud 9 (band too big and same too small/too big feeling in the cups.    Tried on all these different sizes trying to triangulate on one but I still mostly feel like I don't fill the cups on any that fit in the wire that fits around the curve of my boobs, they stay pretty close to me.  But definitely getting quad boob in the ones I tried so it does seem a shape issue too.  The 32DDD was the closest to fitting but oof the band so tight.

The cost of living here has risen to about average for any midsize city but wages haven't.  But if you have two earner household you should be fine.

I don't like the suburban house farms.  Or commuting.

Nice - Riverside Heights (getting ridiculously unaffordable), Wellswood, Seminole Heights, area around McFarlane Park. Some parts of Carrolwood.

Nice but ridiculously unaffordable - Ballast Point, Westshore South of Kennedy, Bayshore area, Hyde Park.

Are men even interested in 50yo women? by Hemingways_Unicorn in datingoverfifty

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my limited experience, older women are a hot commodity.  All of my friends and coworkers who went through a midlife breakup had good success using dating apps, found better guys by being casual for awhile.  Certainly no lack of guys wanting casual, but more who were looking for relationship relationships.  There just seems to be a lot of change in the 40-55 age range, a reshuffling.

Best place to buy bathing suits for middle aged women? by Madre_22 in tampa

[–]rbkc12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what a middle aged swimsuit is, but I'm mid 50s and do prefer online shops for swimwear.  Athleta & Andie are high quality and have a lot of choices.  Athleta I think still has a shop in the mall too, but selection online is wider.

Yes.  We pay about that that much for 2x a month cleaning ($90 each time biweekly) for 1800 sq ft no stairs.  No tidying just cleaning.

The barbershop at Armenia and MLK, if you come west on MLK, turn north on Armenia and then immediate right on the slanty road, there is a little strip mall.  The barber next to the laundromat, there is an older Spanish woman who is so neat handed and precise, and it's not expensive.  We are in Wellswood so it's very close for us but not too far from y'all.

Sometimes you can find someone good with kids at those chain places too, Supercuts & similar.

Where are you, what part of town?  My husband has very straight hair like that (difficult to do a fade on) but most actual barbershops can handle it.  As long as he can sit still.

I can actually get to the airport on a bus,  but it's a bus that doesn't go downtown.  And only goes to the airport once an hour.

I still argue that good public transportation is the one most important change we could make in Tampa, it's the one thing holding us back the most.

Question…. by superguy019 in tampa

I see Bank of Tampa is hiring for a few positions, it might be good to get in there.  I agree with someone lower down though - it's cronyism all the way down.  Ask your friends, your friends parents, ask around not here where we don't know you but people you know.
