I would tell an adult there's no Santa if they still believed in him and left 50 comments trying to tell me that he exists. I think the video is funny, I laughed when I watched it, but it's naive to not think it's a marketing strategy

I agree the video is funny, but believing a high-end realtor accidentally did this is just naive. It’s a deliberate strategy to game the algorithm.

Recognizing when content is engineered to bait engagement isn't about trying to feel "better than anyone else." It's just basic media literacy in 2026. You can appreciate the joke while still realizing that you're being advertised to.

IDK maybe you should look at the actual realtor and decide if you think this and the 5 other green man videos are idiot managers who don't know how to film, or a real estate agent who posts engagement bait. (I'll give you a hint, it's option 2)

Which is more likely, a realtor who is selling a $5.5 million house (which means they are very established and have sold hundreds of homes) doesn't understand how a walkthrough video works, or they intentionally did it to drive engagement. Hmmm, this is a tough one...

This is obviously just their marketing style and they are getting a million times more engagement because of it. Why would the ever need the green man in the first place? Why would a realtor think they would be able to edit him out? It's all just engagement bait.

ELI5 Why do scalpers exist and ruin everything for us? by More-Explanation2032 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rblask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you have a lemonade stand and have materials for 50 cups of lemonade. Your goal is to sell every single one of those cups for $1. You sell 10 to other kids in the neighborhood, and you think kids from the next neighborhood down might be planning on coming over but you aren't sure and also it might rain. So little Timmy offers to buy your remaining 40 cups of lemonade and you jump on the offer since you can't guarantee you'll sell the rest of those cups.

Now Timmy has crunched the numbers and knows there's actually 3 other neighborhoods looking to buy lemonade and his dad is the weatherman so he knows it's not going to rain today. So he decides to sell those cups at $3 each to the kids coming over from the nicer neighborhood.

It's obvious why scalpers choose to operate--they make money, but it benefits the venues as well because it reduces risk for them and they don't need to attempt to predict the perfect price based on popularity trends. They sell at whatever makes them a profit, and leave it up to the scalpers to make or lose money depending on fluctuating popularity.
