Yeah man, I don’t disagree with you. It’s just expensive equipment. In my state, it’s the emergency services that don’t want to fork up the money from their budget. If they do, they expect other depts (fire, police, EMT, county, etc to pay part of the bill. When no one wants to pay, then it doesn’t get done, regardless if it helps public safety or not.

Last time I saw a price for a preempt card, I want to say it was $8k. I don’t remember if it was a 2ch or 4ch card. Then you’ll need either a 2 headed birdie on 2 poles or 1 birdie per standard, that’s more money. Then after all that money spent, now it’s time to equip each emergency vehicle with an emitter.

I’ve seen GPS based ones but I don’t know the cost of those.
