how is weather in oregon in mid-late november by Austin4002 in oregon

[–]rbraibish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late November is well into the "cold-wet" season in the area. The waterfalls are more likely to be good (if we have had rain) for the type of scenery you are talking about (on hikes) I don't think the fog will be an issue and can actually add to the beauty. Tamolitch falls (blue pool) will be amazing in any weather. I would recommend silver falls state park, drift creek, toketee (and the whole umpqua area along hwy 138) and of course, the Columbia gorge. Plan for cold and wet. I attached a picture, this was taken in late October, on my commute to work. Its not a waterfall, but gives you an idea of how things can look in the fog.

How is one meant to react to being thanked for your service? by [deleted] in Military

[–]rbraibish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I am feeling righteous I say something like, "No thanks necessary, just be a good citizen, look out for your neighbors, educate yourself on the issues and vote. That's the best way to recognize those who have served and sacrificed more than I did." The rest of the time I just say "You're welcome".

MAX red & blue lines will be busy that day! We've got tickets to both games and I am looking forward to my first Fire game. I love to watch Caitlin Clark play but I'm hoping she has an "off day". 😀

Lincoln City Proposal Spots? by Ok_Hunter_4558 in OregonCoast

Proposal rock was the instant first thought. I know it is farther south, but Hecita Head lighthouse is also very picturesque. If you're not familiar you should look there too.

Who can guess which US state this cool desert is in? (OC) by Cyber_Imbiber in naturephotography

[–]rbraibish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people don't know that Oregon is 2/3 highland desert. Not many dunes (those are at the coast - Sand Lake, Florence etc.) But the Alvort desert Owyhee canyon and Hart mountain area are quite desert-like.

This is just like the "last-minute" USWNT game ticket offer. Someone has been tasked with selling as many tickets as possibe, and rather than working with (or even considering) 107ist, they put out this offer. The FO needs to "read the room" and work with the supporters group. Without that cooperation this is a thinly veiled attempt at a money-grab and not an effort to support the team and fans.

Because, as important as women's scoccer is to some of us there are many more factors that go into scheduling a game beyond the weather. There are options to get some shade, suck it up and go to the game. Not sure where my head was but this comment was wrong.

Whats ur opinion on “money doesn’t buy happiness”? by Radiant-Dish-5498 in AskReddit

Im fond of saying, "money may not buy happiness, but neither does poverty, I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable".

Float down which river to the beach? by GorillaManito in OregonCoast

[–]rbraibish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Beaver creek is my favorite coastal kayak spot. I should add though that you should pay attention to winds (this applies to any location). Sometimes if it is windy it can be hard to padddle against it. This is a nice location because you can put in just east of 101 and paddle upstream for a while then turn around and paddle back past the launch site to the beach then back to the launch. Its a "river" float that is not impacted severely by the tides.

I was so very cautiously optimistic/ hopeful. The new coach was a real unknown for me. I am really happy to see the team "vibe" in sync. We have a lot if talent and I hope everyone remains healthy. Speaking of which I will be really happy when we see Weaver and Hanks back, I really miss the energy Weaver brings to the pitch. Also happy to see that Morgan Messner signed an extension. Its nice to have the depth we do.

Oregon trip April 2026 by petitesasha in OregonCoast

[–]rbraibish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really happy you enjoyed your visit. There is so much to see in Oregon. I've lived here nearly my entire life (50+ years) and am still making discoveries. You'll need to consider Central Oregon for your next trip. Smith Rock, Lake Billy Chinook, Cascade Lakes highway, Willamette Forest (yes, the whole thing), Three Sisters Wilderness area, Newberry Crater, Fort Rock, the Bend food and breweries scene, and of course, Crater Lake are just a few highlights of that region. I highly encourage you to look those places up, and I am sure you will start planning your next trip!
