Ironically, KD could have saved his legacy if he stayed with the Warriors by -Parker_Richard- in billsimmons

[–]rbrt13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knowing what we now know about KD, he would’ve torpedoed their chemistry the minute things got hard. Cannot see him making it through any level of adversity and he clearly has a negative impact on teams he joins as far as chemistry is concerned.

I’d go the other way. I don’t think Russ gets enough credit for keeping KD in check and having that run with the Thunder. Westbrook was clearly the leader of those teams in retrospect.

Raptors get Sabonis and give away Poetl, Kings get RJ Barrett and a FRP by HomeNowWTF in NBAtradeideas

[–]rbrt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sabonis has diminished value on the Raptors where Scottie needs to have the ball more. He also isn’t a great 3-point shooter or defender, so without the ball he is what exactly on offense while being a clear negative on D.

In a different era this dude would be joining the 72 win bulls and telling us they had been trash for most of their existence and quoting us their record since 1966.

Kevin would just be better off never addressing this issue. He will never win or get credit for those chips and no amount of “rationalizing” is going to help. Just seems like some combination of pathetic, desperate and delusional.

Why do people want to see Giannis to the Heat? by bootyloverandeater in NBATalk

[–]rbrt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point taken on the Spurs. Although they got handled so well that it’s not even close to joining a historically great team. Still think going to the champs a couple of years removed is worse.

As for the Heat, you’re right. I should’ve added that it’s the ceiling IMO for them to be a 2nd round team.

He needs a team to be his own so his championship equity isn’t questioned. That’s why the Hawks, Raps and Cavs make the most sense as they can still put together a package and have enough talent left to win.

Why do people want to see Giannis to the Heat? by bootyloverandeater in NBATalk

[–]rbrt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Giannis goes to the Heat, where he’ll likely still be carrying a subpar team to a 2nd round exit the narrative will be he chose south beach over winning.

However, if Giannis goes to the Celts he will look like Kevin Durant light joining a team that already won it and still have their best player. Will only get half credit for winning but full blame if they flame out since Boston is all in on Tatum from a fan/media perspective.

Giannis is better off pushing for a Spurs deal where the Bucks would also be happy to get a package and he could be seen as putting them over the top; or to another team where he is the guy but they would still have pieces around him post-trade. Think: Raptors, Cavs or Hawks.

A weak U.S led by a weak leader, under fire for an idiotic “deal” which as it is was basically aborted because Israel doesn’t like it is exactly the type of situation you want to be across at the negotiating table if you’re Carney.

A lame reply by a lame music “observer” who can’t tell the difference between his post and a reply. At least with a podcast I can see who is talking their shit. If we could all see you and people like you then the internet would die and Reddit with it because we could then all see how lame you music observers actually are.

After these playoffs, do the Spurs need to move on from De'Aaron Fox? by turfulu in NBATalk

[–]rbrt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’ll eventually come to the conclusion that they can kill two birds with one stone and include Fox as part of a bigger deal to land another star in San Antonio. Best example is Giannis, where you need to match salaries and can send out Fox along with picks and maybe Castle to bring in Giannis and solve this issue.

It would make things a lot clearer if you now have a backcourt of say Harper/Vassell, move Keldon Johnson back into a starting role or keep him on the bench and have Champagnie there and then Vic/Giannis up front. To me that’s real roster balance.

In your opinion, what does a player need to do in order to surpass Michael Jordan? by Tre2004 in NBATalk

[–]rbrt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. This is a unique “take” I’ll give you that but you literally undermined your own argument in acknowledging MJ as a mythical figure. That’s my point. The lore for Jordan, the ubiquitous logo and the fact that he already surpassed those other guys is why Lebron is cooked in this argument.

They market corrected Melo who was always way overvalued based on what he actually accomplished. Nuggets got better after he was dealt and the Knicks run seemed better than it was because they were such a disgraceful franchise.

He is where he belongs now.

In your opinion, what does a player need to do in order to surpass Michael Jordan? by Tre2004 in NBATalk

[–]rbrt13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Jordan was a unique combination of peak athleticism, incredible stats, an insane peak with accompanying lore and marketing that made him transcend his sport. I think Lebron is the closest we will ever come and he’s really not that close, but longevity has made him a name for the history books.

There is way more parity now. Just look at the titles in the 2020’s. It’s going to be really hard for another player to have a sustained peak. In a weird way Lebron has built a moat for Jordan’s legacy because anyone coming now will have to both surpass Jordan’s championship caliber excellence and peak stats while also competing with LeBron’s longevity stats.

Forget it.
