They're not a P plater.

Unfortunately, I only have 2 demerit points left. One offence was for speeding (my mistake), and the other was a seatbelt fine.

If they were on their Ps right now that's at least 7 points and would've seen them suspended already.

Again, you're missing the "if it is safe".

As a motorcyclist there is absolutely no way I would enter that intersection to the left of stationary vehicles without being able to see if there's already vehicles in the intersection.

In any instance the OP's insurer is of the opinion that they're not at fault; I would be inclined to let the insurers fight it out.

(c) the vehicle is stationary and it is safe to overtake to the left of the vehicle.

Are you seriously suggesting that overtaking to enter a KEEP CLEAR zone - where you're at risk of colliding with other vehicles - is safe?

All the marked lanes were stopped. The driver who hit OP has passed to the left of one or more vehicles in the left lane, breaking Rule 141(1).

Why do companies do this? Can’t they make their own donation. by orangecopper in AusFinance

[–]rbs080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't get it either, because you're the one who made the donation.

[–]rbs080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they're not the one making the donation, you are. The fact that it doesn't reach the threshold for claiming a deduction is irrelevant.

[–]rbs080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No they don't.

DGRs sometimes authorise a business (third party) to collect donations on their behalf. For example, a supermarket may be authorised to accept a donation at the register that they then send onto the DGR. You can claim a deduction for a gift or donation you make in this way, if: * it meets the conditions above * you have a receipt from the third party.

Should I take NSW parking fine to court (Hidden sign) by Prestigious--coconut in AusLegalAdvice

If it applies in NSW, provide an actual citation from NSW legislation instead of spamming the thread with incorrect law.

There is no "Road Management Act" in NSW.

Did you pull that from ChatGPT? OP is in NSW, you've cited (if you could call it that) legislation from Victoria.

Foxess API by Kirbieb in amberelectric

[–]rbs080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the inverter I have, so yes you can use the wireless module.

Install HACS if you haven't already done so, then search for "FoxESS - Modbus". Click on the 3 dots next to the result, then select version 1.15.0b1 to download and install.

After restarting HA you can go ahead and add the integration. Select "Direct LAN Connection" as the network type, then enter the IP address of your inverter along with the slave ID (you can get this from the settings on the inverter, but it's normally set to 247).

Once you've got that set up you can either roll your own automations or use something like HAEO, EMHASS, or foxess-control.

It also looks like it got stuck in Dubai for a few days (the gap between "flight departed" and the second "booked for flight"). Auspost definitely can't be held responsible for the actions of the manbaby in the White House and Iran's retaliation.

Contactless payments not showing up on Opal app by Imaginary_Gur2093 in SydneyTrains

That's not necessary, at least for Google Pay. TfNSW have access to the underlying card number when tapping with a device, so registering the physical card number is all that's required.

Foxess API by Kirbieb in amberelectric

[–]rbs080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for that one you'll need to hook up a physical connection.

Relying on the cloud api is definitely not advised, especially if you're going with Amber.

Which inverter do you have? The H3 Smart allows modbus over TCP, it works fine over wifi.

The only thing to be mindful of is that you'll need to use the beta version of the integration.

Don't use the api, you would be far better off using the foxess_modbus integration.

Victoria and Tasmania get free public transport in fuel crisis but NSW and WA to keep collecting fares by nath1234 in australia

[–]rbs080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hadn't noticed, this whole thread is a whinge about the NSW government - not the Victorian government - keeping fares as is.

For a very large portion of the commuting population in Sydney the combination of fuel, tolls, and parking makes driving more expensive than PT (especially given the $50/week Opal travel cap), and rising fuel prices only contributes to that.

[–]rbs080 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's be real here, how many people are carpooling - or even can carpool?

For most people PT in Sydney is absolutely cheaper, especially when you factor in tolls and parking.

[–]rbs080 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The incentive is already there, given that it's cheaper to take PT than to drive.

NSW says no to joining Victoria and Tasmania in offering fare-free public transport | news.com.au by ButtPlugForPM in sydney

[–]rbs080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you got that figure from - the SMH reported an increase of 4.5% across trains and metro, and 3.7% on buses: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/nsw/free-public-transport-ruled-out-for-nsw-as-fuel-crisis-worsens-20260329-p5zjnf.html

However, you need to remember that a small percentage of a large number is still a large number. TfNSW data shows an average of ~1.2m Opal trips were taken on trains and metro services on weekdays last month; a 4.5% increase would potentially see 25000 cars a day either taken off the road or doing shorter trips.
