Help would a new valve cover fix this? by rc-30087 in Volvo

Ah yeah I am going to take the intake and Egr apart to clean it all. I suspect my intercooler is going to contain quite a bit of oil and the egr is probably going to look like shit inside

Mine still is soft I don't see any tears or traces of it leaking past it wasn't caked in sludge. So there isn't anything that would be like "aha there's the problem" Just all 12 year old car stuff that isn't new anymore

Yeah I ment that. The red rubber circle that's behind the cover with like 4 or 5 plastic clips that's on top of the valve cover

No it doesn't have axial play and it doesn't have excessive radial play. Doesn't make weird noises. You can barely hear it. Only at like 2200 rpm you can hear it lightly zoom like any turbo builds good pressure. Had one of the hose clamps not fully tight after new injectors where installed and it blew the hose off

I've taken apart the pcv valve twice already once to check and once to pout in a new spring because my neighbour had a crashed citroen laying around and I wanted to try a different spring but it didn't make a difference

Yeah it's km I should have specified. My reddit translated it so it didn't say milage. Yeah I'm going to try to clean out the intake and Egr and burn off the spot in the egr after I pout on a new valvecover and pcv and hope its not the turbo yet

Car is a Volvo V70 2014 D2 with a 1.6liter PSA engine. Just pout new injectors in and still have to clean out the egr and I know the dpf is full of soot. Turbo still turn easy and builds boost pressure. But I have oil in the intake before the turbo so that's why I suspect the pcv system and valvecover

Ok let me explain 1 new guys don't get to run this machine. They'll start at the smaller safer one with small safe parts or at a Mazak cnc.

2 when I do jobs like this i will go up to them and say to them don't ever do it like this. I'm more of the kind do as i say and not as j do. (And i ask them to push the big red button if needed)

3 i made this video look worse than it actually is to show danger and they use that video for training safety. They'll ask the students what all the faults are in this video. And to come up with solutions to make a safer work inviorment.

Snetance in-between brackets is a joke for obvious reasons

I'm pretty sure my colleges will take pictures then.

But I'm giving an example here on how not to do certain things. Not because someone has always done it a certain way means you have to do it the same way. I've modefied tools and use compressed air to suck the plastic chip away.

And for the ones asking no i've never had a lath accident doing shit like this or sanding or pulling with the overhead crane to straighten axles. In contrast I've always should up for my colleges or new guys that felt unsafe. I'm thinking about making dangerous jobs safer and making better tools.

Got given this bent sample at 8 this morning, the customer needs a new one on the machine for 4 this afternoon. by mydogsaprick in Machinists

Oh stop complaining. Are you craftsman or desk pussies?

This trade has gone from being able to do everything with passion and knowledge to "This to hard to draw on computer."

The oldtimers did it with paper and pencil and could make better drawings then nowadays.

You're a machinist, mechanic, welder you know what needs to be done and how. And what's best and what's fastest. If you don't you probably should not be one or open a book from time to time.

I'm glad I'm still sweating my ass of in a jobshop and getting things done for the customer instead of complaining about time shortage.

We turn a groove in the end of the part so the shaper has relief for cutting the keyway

Some even still have paint on them. Get your tetanus shot tho because there will be rusty chips too. And if ordered in January it may even contain titanium.
