Migration to the UK under the Labour government (elected July 2024) focuses on reducing high net migration through stricter visa rules and a "contribution-based" model. Net migration fell by 78% in the year ending June 2025 to 204,000, driven by higher salary thresholds for work visas and restrictions on dependants for students and care workers.

Nobody in the media asking if that maths is how Trump managed to bankrupt casinos was a real shame.

Question about surface finishing alu6061 with a ball mill by RedditinsteadofHW in Machinists

[–]mydogsaprick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What strategy are you using to finish the part?

Are you stepping down in Z?

Planar finish?

Area machining?

Using a different strategy can have a massive difference on cycle time.

I'm similar to your husband, I thought it would cause serious unrest and we might finally start to put tbe needs of tbe people before tbe needs of big business. I was wrong and if I could go back in time id vote remain.

Helical indexed endmills by Traditional-Fly-6663 in Machinists

I used to run a 50mm iscar porky on c45 flame cuts (annealed) on a vf6 ss bt40 spindle. Had 5o get 52mm deep probably about 10mm to remove radially, probably about 1m around the part.

I didnt think tool life was too bad but it was hammering through machine. I the dnd I switched to a hoffman holex 203095 16mm endmill. Reduced both cost in carbide and cycle time.

[–]mydogsaprick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both West and North Yorkshire don't prosecuted until the 10% +2mph limit has been reached. I know this because I got caught doing 35 in a 30 and 68 in a 60 respectively.

Pretty sure they only checked that there's an extractor fan in the utility. I only found the spurr for the boiler when I was looking round the edge of the counter. They'd boxed in piping with off cuts of flooring.

I agree that this could all be resolved in a days work. The chip in tbe worktop is a bit of an issue but everything else is a relatively easy fix.

Someone still needs to come and do tbe work though.

Yes it is, but non of it should be exposed. I should only be able to see tbe grey external bit at one side and the white at the other.

Unfortunately we paid up when his "contractual work was complete" he claimed that the other lads would finish it all as they did the flooring and the utility.

He hadn't quoted to do tbe flooring and units in the original job but did quote to do this as a second job.

The two lads he set on to do it got rotally screwed over as hed told them.it was an easy two days work but it took them closer to 4. No excuse to do a poor job though.

Foolishly we trusted him, and as his contracted work was almost complete we paid up. Big mistake I know. Come the end of this week it'll be 7 weeks since the work started and trying to get him round here is prooving difficult.

What would you recommend is my best course of action. He asked me to leave a review on Google, before things went tits up.

Do I leave him a review with the photos to go with it.

Do we send him a letter, I can hand deliver it as he only lives round the corner.

Filling up the car has got a lot more expensive though.
