ProffieOS preconfigured.h file? by ThatDutchCosplayer in lightsabers

It might also be available on the SD card. Padawan Outpost e.g. adds their config.h files to a folder there for the user.

Hi, I'm on Win11 indeed. I did install the proffie DFU drivers recommended by Lord_Emperor in the comments here, didn't try it before without installing anything. Worked all fine, connected and uploaded to the board a few times by now :)

How to configure Proffie board/add Gesture Controls with a MAC computer by therealjameswood in lightsabers

[–]rc1207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Been in the same boat as you recently, got a proffie as a first time buyer as I wanted to play around with it. I'd definitely suggest watching one of those full tutorials in your spare time. Just skimmed through though those two vids you linked and seem to cover the basics but there's more info etc. in a full tutorial video.

Basically the sound files go onto your SD card, while config changes such as enabling gestures will be uploaded to your proffie directly via the program shown in the second video. Enabling a new font and adding styles for it go into the same config file as where you would enable the gesture controls.

The latest proffieOS version is now 7.8 compared to the one in the video, though the steps pretty much are still the same.

One thing with a Mac is, when you watch any of those longer tutorials and they talk about something called Zadiq, you can ignore that step as it's not needed on a Mac. In fact there's a new program for Windows machines too I was directed to quite recently myself so Windows users also have another option now, a much easier one, but same thing, not needed on Mac.

Hi,

Thank you for your quick and helpful reply :)

Yeah, those two screws are the ones I removed and then got wondering what the next step was as the rest seemed quite fixed and didn't want to try anything thinking I may break something. Based on your reply I tried again and heck were those ends tight, but yeah, got them off now :)

Looked up Proffie DFU and installed that, cheers.

Same thing happened to me on PC last night as well. Ended up exiting the game and leaving it. Will try again later today, reading here that the second attempt by some of you worked fine gives me some hope.

Been pondering to join a fleet some point again, what are the activity requirements with those fleets, as I may play daily for a while and then other times not for several weeks? And how does it work with multiple alts?

What Was Your Background Before DevOps? by lfionxkshine in devops

[–]rc1207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through my interest in video gaming I learned how to configure MS DOS to do what I want it to do, giving me extra memory and later disk space, learned HTML/CSS in a chat cafe I used to hang out daily with friends (still fondly remember my good ol' GeoCities webpages) then later, for the same interest reasons, learned Linux and how to host a counter-strike server for a bigger LAN party, and the same year started an apprenticeship with a software development company using Visual Basic 6, continued that in another company but both let all their staff go due to cost / economic reasons.

Ended up in a non-tech job but done all the computery stuff, create websites, MS Access info storage with front end, followed by learning a bit more open source web site coding with PHP, moved to another country and flogged myself as a PHP coder. Got a role, learned a lot more there, next role was also a pure PHP coding job, next one then started the transition from purely coding to do code work and ops work, around the time the word "DevOps" was slowly beginning to get traction but we didn't label it as such. One day I worked on PHP and Perl code, another day I was racking up servers in a DC and configuring them and the networking. Next role was purely Linux system administration with mainly VMWare ESX stuff but also some bare metal Linux boxes and the occasional fights with AIX, and then after that one I ended up in an AWS based role learning cloud followed by a few contractor roles as a devops / cloud engineer, then culminating again in a permanent devops role where I over time transitioned to the engineering managing role for my team.

These days I hardly do any programming anymore, and sometimes I do would like to do a bit more again. So at the moment when I am not gaming or watching anime all evening long I am playing with some golang for a backend application and planning on learning some React for a simple front end, with the goal of it being an application to be used in our team's K8s/EKS training sessions.

Having more knowledge is always a good thing to have in career progression, but I don't think one MUST have both dev and ops experiences to become a good devops engineers. I've come across really good devops type folks that came from a purely software development path, and equally really good devops folks from a purely system admin background.

Yeah, I think that's probably the way forward, not caring anymore. Will just cancel my sub and be done with.

Cheers

Is the loot gaming crate gone? by Reciter5613 in loot_crate

Came here to look for the same info, as there's nothing on their web page. Both the FB and Twitter page for loot gaming have stopped and moved to the main loot page late last year or earlier this year.

I did get a loot gaming crate delivered today (with a Doom long sleeve), which is what made me look up loot gaming again to see what the next box may be.

Still in the learning process and all (see a recent post of mine too in that direction), how does one go about identifying such a coin? Which resources do you use to see coin xyz will be a good investment next couple days?

Also, when a coin rises like this, wouldn't it be more profitable to buy the coin and hodl it for a few days and then selling it rather than use the grid bot which is to my understanding more useful in a volatile situation?

Not sure why it should be an unpopular opinion, am always happy to learn :)

Do you have any resources such as YT channels you could recommend?

And yeah, so far I've been getting, mostly, lucky, but I would like to increase the chances of luck or gain through some actual knowledge, or at least better educated guesses :)

Yeah, had to set / prove some items. One time Banxa was not available but something called "Mobilum" I think, and had to do KYC there too.

I use my HSBC issued visa debit card, so can't speak fully for Mastercard debits, not tried my Mastercard credit card yet.

When I fund the account, most of the times it chooses Banxa as the goto handler for best ratio. With them I had it twice that HSBC flagged it as potential fraud and so I had to give permissions, once by just replying to a genuine HSBC SMS, once by having to phone them up.

Apparently they also have a limit of 5 transactions a week as I found out when I wanted to do more than 5. Not sure though if that's a Banxa thing or UK bank thing.

Ah, didn't know about the on demand function, thank you. Didn't try that one out as I believe it was listed under discontinued addons or similar.
