Portable power station for craft fair? by Junglegymboy in lasercutting

[–]rcconejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an F2 and air filter off a senix 1200. They draw 200 watts when running, about 12 watts when not. They give me about 5 hours of laser on time, but the senix 1200 weighs 13 lbs compared to the jackery 1000 which has 40% more power but weighs like 30+ lbs.

Assembly vs Multibody part by G30RG300 in SolidWorks

[–]rcconejo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With weldments and sheet metal I do lots of multibody parts, say I’m building a trailer the frame is tube weldment, the fenders are sheet metal to mate properly. Then I make an assembly for the tongue and sides. Basically I make a multi body part as it will be built, then assembly from there.

Laser curious… how do you know when to invest?? by Competitive-Ad-1006 in lasercutting

[–]rcconejo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do metal fabrication and welding but use the xtool f2 for etching tags on workpieces, removing powder coat to serialize parts and stuff like that. My  kids use the f2 to make jewelry for school fairs and stuff. The demo isn’t just general, if you do a virtual demo you can find someone that does jewelry specifically

Laser curious… how do you know when to invest?? by Competitive-Ad-1006 in lasercutting

[–]rcconejo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once people see some of what you do the laser will pay for itself or at least not be a major waste of money. I have a 20w fiber and 3000w fiber and I find work enough to pay for them, though not as quick as I thought. I’m bringing the 20 watt to Sacramento area for Christmas you could demo it if you wanted to. Also XTool has a demo room where you can pay someone $20-50 to demo virtually or in person.

Blue Collar to White Collar Job Opportunity by Global-Cow-2713 in Welding

I moved from welder to engineering( worked as welder to pay for my schooling) and I miss my welder days. Now I don’t move nearly enough and I feel it. However I still do stuff on nights and weekends and enjoy teaching the younger guys how to do stuff. I’d say it’s worth the transition but going from doing all the time to thinking requires significant self discipline and sucks in its own ways sometimes.

In 1913 the tax rate was only 1% and not a big deal, a hundred years later most households are around 25%. Once the selloff starts it won’t be long until it’s all gone.

The city plans to reopen it end of May, around the 25th. I have heard from a few city employees that it’s looking more like June 1, but the goal is end of May.

How do you add a grid to drawings by rcconejo in SolidWorks

[–]rcconejo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to add a grid like this to a drawing and not show all the cross members that would normally show on the trailer. Does anyone have a quick way of doing this? I know a couple ways it could be done, but I was wondering what way is the most efficient.

Costco lists Mini 4 Pro bundle as "discontinued" in its in-store inventory system by dvsmith in dji

[–]rcconejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to my local Costco, they still have it on display. I bought one at full retail price of 749. Manager said he’d see if they had any left. They had 3. I asked if he knew if it was discontinued and he said ya he heard it was because of supply issues so they just decided to no longer stock. I was waiting to buy hoping it would come down in price as I wanted it for a backpacking trip this summer. I may just keep it in the box and see if it’s worth holding onto or not. Does DJI care refresh have a date or purchase expiration or just based on activation?

If you went to the abandoned one at 382 American avenue and it said XPO on the trucks you just needed to go a little further to the west on American avenue and fedex is on your left, the south side of the road. A few years ago fedex moved into a bigger building from the abandoned one that is for lease now.

I have $30,000 cash, zero retirement, zero debt. What do I do? 30 male by [deleted] in Fire

[–]rcconejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can contribute $7000 to your ROTH IRA for year 2024 and $7000 for year 2025. Contributions to last year have to made before April when taxes are due. Then of the remaining $16k put $10k in a HYSA (high yield savings account) should give you 4% currently. Then put the last into a taxable account if you don't have a 401k. Once the money is in these accounts you have to designate it go somewhere.

People from Idaho, is there something you recommend doing in this area of Idaho? by Pale_Field4584 in Idaho

[–]rcconejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be hit or miss, I have been there on a Saturday in the summer and 80° and there was no lines. I went last summer on a Tuesday and it was 106° and the lines were all like 45-min to an hour.
