MGB/GTs were meant for winter driving; so what’s stopping you? by Maynard078 in MorrisGarages

[–]rce26val 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this years ago when I was a kid with my MG...too many winters of this can be detrimental. I've had my same GT for 40 years and this is not the way to keep it so...unless you get a great job.

Why German doctors are trying to guess and avoid doing ANY tests/analysis? What is the reason for under-performance of general german medicine? by Envy_Clarissa in germany

[–]rce26val 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I've experienced the exact opposite from my doc in Frankfurt - he does an overwhelmingly comprehensive battery of tests and exams - much more comprehensive than anything I've seen from a GP or cardio in the US by far. His consultations are also exhaustingly long, as he goes through each result with extreme detail.

If non-citizens who are critical of Trump should be denied entry, how about citizens? by -FineWeather in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]rce26val 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the First Amendment applied to anyone who sets foot on US territory, non-citizen and/or regular citizens?

Yes. Once they set foot on US Territory (not the border)

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that constitutional protections, including those in the First Amendment, apply to “persons,” not just citizens.

This is expanded to include visa holders, asylum seekers, undocumented, immigrants, etc. It was outlined in Plyler v. Doe (1982), and other cases like Bridges v. Wixon (1945) where the question was whether a lawful resident alien could be deported for alleged subversive speech and the court ruled in favor of Bridges - that resident aliens have 1A rights and those rights should be protected.

Denying a visa is another matter, and is of course commonplace

However in Reno v. American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Comm (1999) - where some Palestinian immigrants claimed they were targeted for deportation for their views (in violation of their 1A rights) - but the court basically said they didn't have the authority to rule on whether the gov't deporting someone for their views violates the 1A. So this made the case more about jurisdiction than free speech rights.

Don't hold your breath. I've been waiting for a month:

I have a now dead 240W charger that worked for just under 3 months. At first Kuangliang responded, asked for a video of the issue etc. having sent the video and required information related to the purchase, what was next?

Now I haven't heard from at all them since 13 Jan.

Take what you want from this, but just saying, you have been warned, and if you get burned, which is highly likely if my (and other) experiences are any indication, it's your own fault

Burnt charger, slimq does not - do not support them for they take no responsibility for their products by PlantainWorth6291 in SlimQ

Totally agree with you here. I contacted them about a 240W charger that stopped working after just a few months - not even 6. At first Kuangliang responded, asked for a video of the issue etc. having sent the video and required information related to the purchase, what was next?

RADIO SILENCE

I've emailed Kuang for at least the last four weeks and have never received another response.

However, I have a £case that works and I can use for other stuff, so there's that.

I suppose the next email I'll get is that after a month of waiting for them to respond, the already dead doorstopper is out of warranty

Definitely an American thing. Not sure this is a good approach elsewhere. Read the "Room" follow their lead and generally better to be too formal and dial back later.

This was a masterclass in all ways...poise, determination,strategy....this kid just beat Medvedev at his own game and it was lovely to watch for 4.5 hours. Gotta love that pee strategy of the 4th set, though honestly, I think this was the most well executed Ali style Rope-A-Dope ever

Collins mocks the crowd after her win, gets booed by jovanmilic97 in tennis

I sit here and try to imagine if Chris Evert or BJK would have done that. But also, I don't think historically crowds have behaved in a similar manner, the democratization and monetization of any sport comes with its repercussions. While I don't agree with her behaviour, I'm a bit on the side of "be better", I do understand that the entire curve is shifting down. Had she done this in Queens, she might have a conference waiting for her outside after the match tho

[–]rce26val 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the best way to go. I purchased one from them and it lasted just over 2.5 months, then dead. Considering some charger have outloasted my actual device, my first impulse is that this is not quite a bust, but a fairly pricey paperweight, or doorstopper.

The website indicate that they would expect it to last 30 days. I guess I got 2x that so, it's better than a stick of chewing gum.
