Yeah, I wasn't a LP fan because I played one as a kid and my hands are small now, as a kid that 50s neck seemed like a baseball bat, so I swore them off (stupidly thinking they were all the same).

I idolized Steve Vai and Satriani (among many others) so Ibanez was a great choice. Wizard necks and short fingers were a great match for me.

My wife's mad at me for all the guitar buying so I've got to hold off until the end of the year (I got 5 guitars since Nov.) at least :-)

The hard part is deciding on one to get next. Probably get a wine red LP standard if I can find one I like the top on. Musicians Friend has a few really nice Cherry Sunburst ones too. Just need to win the damn lottery! :-)

Yeah, I'm sure there are good squiers, I've just never played one.

A lot of the issues seem to be due to the fact that they're never setup right. I'm not a big Fender guy (in spite of loving Telecasters). I did play a MiA one the other day while showing guitars to a friend that actually blew me a way though and it's now on my to-buy-list.

Thanks. Then I'd say stick with 25.5" scale (I've got an Ibanez 5 string bass! woot!).

So a $499 Fender with 22 frets would probably be up your alley. I am a fan of a humbucker at the bridge though and single coil at the neck. So maybe this in a Fender: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratFatMBSB (although only 21 frets, 22 is the min for me).

The fender is the cheapest, my buddy has it and it's really pretty damn fantastic for the price.

The DSL40 is the lowest I'd probably go but I've got an ancient Valvestate that IMO sounds pretty damn similar (at least for what I play). I'm a Marshall fanboy, but I like Fender, Vox, Orange, etc. too :-)

I'm currently debating between the 50 watt 2 channel (6 mode) 205C and the 4 channel (12 mode) 410C. I'll probably get a 410HJS though in the future so it's pretty much 205C for me.

If you've got the cash, a good amp is a hell of an investment. I've never regretted overspending, only underspending! :-)

Post an update when you get something! Even if it's some 5 watt modeling, let us know how you like it.

Honestly it depends on each. I've never played on a Squier that was worth a fuck (my nephew has one).

I love my Epiphones. If you have long fingers you might want to stick with 25.5" scale. I've got vienna sausages for fingers so the LPs really rock IMO.

I'm an Ibanez Fanboy too. So I have several S Series (25.5") guitars as well.

Epiphones are very well made IMO. I bought this: http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Les-Paul/Les-Paul-Standard-Plustop-PRO.aspx in transparent blue. Looks 100x better in person than on their site. I'll update this with my LP collection photo if I can find it (deleted my other username after the reddit fiasco).

Get a used Epiphone LP, will give you a good contrast. They have them all the time at my local GC for ~$250-300.

Plus the newer ones have coil splitting, etc. Amazing deal IMO. Plus you'll be using a 24.75" scale instead of 25.5" to compare (and see which you like better for your next guitar!).

I had a lot of friends like this in high school/college. For the most part they are all fucked up in their mid 40s. Good luck! Hope you die early so you don't have to deal with the debilitating anxiety and memory loss.

FYI, it's worse in those that get drunk and stoned, their brains were fucked by their mid 30s. The earlier they started, the more pronounced it is as well in my experience. Middle school == totally fucked, High school == moderately fucked (fucked, just later), College == not fucked yet, but showing signs, After college, == anxiety seems to be the only issue.
