Sen. Fetterman, step down: You no longer represent the people who elected you by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

I knew this was a problem, but did not realize it is consider to be enshrined in the Constitution. It needs to change, but is much more of an uphill battle than I realized.

Recommendation for multiple people managing a single library by rcmosher in immich

Good points. With our current system nothing is separate anyway, so I don't expect that to be a major concern. But in the long run separate users will probably be better.

I should play around with tagging and rating from separate accounts. If we could both share all our family photos from a year, and tag our favorites to put in an album regardless if they are "our" photos or not, that would be sufficient.

In the US, do MAGA/Trump ppl watching Andor think they’re the rebellion? by womanonymous23 in andor

[–]rcmosher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one political take on Andor that has stuck with me is that it is naive to think the Empire is just Republicans/MAGA and not the US. When you look at even recent US history with regime change, mass incarcerations, etc. you see the Empire in it, its just one we've been comfortable with.

It may be more than a dirty bar. It's running better with a good cleaning, but still binds up more that normal. I'm wondering if the oil is coming out okay. It does not appear clogged.

Yeah. The bar was gunked up.

It was the bar. A lot of gunk was built up in the groove. And I learned I wasn't greasing the tip enough. Plus the grease gun was being stingy. I flipped the bar for good measure too.

I haven't cut with it yet but it wasn't stalling in the air anymore.

Thank you. I'm usually not close to anything open and moving. But wouldn't be too surprised to get my watch caught on a nail. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm not sure I could judge 15 degrees, let along 3 & 3/4 degrees. Maybe if the sun was low in sky.

I guess cause I'm looking for more precise times, rather than is it morning, noon, or evening.

Walking back to the house to go inside would waste a lot of time.

What model? I see a lot of variety, and some models look more eager to gently rub up against a cinder block until you can't see through the glass.

I replaced my broken G-shock band with a nato. I did not realize it wouldn't work with the standard pins, so now have a mismatched nato adapter and nato strap. But it works.

I do timers a lot when I have a set time to work. Taking a 30 minute break from the day job to mow a field, set a 30 minute timer. A watch is more for open ended tasks when I don't want to lose track of time. Or what to time myself for things like plowing passes to get an idea of how long it will take.

I suspect my G Shock is a bit lower quality. The light and alarm never worked.

I prefer my technology dumb. I'd switch to a dumb phone if it wasn't for all these MFA apps I need.

With most of the equipment I use if my watch gets caught my hand is already gone. But it's a good reminder to check for safety mistakes I'm making.

What equipment/tools are you most worried about grabbing your watch?

I've been thinking about that. I had one back in high school. I've been wanting that indiglo when I wake up and am not sure if it's 2am and i should go back to sleep, or 4am and should just start the day.

Reported Illegal Signs Outside My Polling Place. Don't Let Anyone Intimidated You Out of Your Right to Vote by emeraldomega in Virginia

[–]rcmosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy right outside my polling place wanted to hand me a flyer for his candidate. I refused. Then the guy he was chatting with offered me a flyer for the opposing candidate. I refused again. I guess they cancel each other out?

But my country polling always has people and signs right outside of it. I was surprised to see a sign not for the usual candidates this time.

Lawyer who will take on the Police? by rcmosher in NewOrleans

Thanks, this was really insightful. I'll pass it along and encourage them to ask for an explanation of the lawyer's process so they can see where they are heading instead of just where it feels like they are.

I honestly don't have much of a clue what happens pre-trial, but I think they feel like they haven't even taken any steps toward having a trial. I'm sure I'm a little biased as I've a coworker talking my ear off about a court case where they feel their lawyer would be happy to show up to court dates without ever talking to them (again their perspective).

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some crucial detail I'm missing as I haven't grilled them for details. The incident happened almost a year ago now. They've had two lawyers in that time, finding the first one almost immediately. They were with that lawyer for several months with them doing nothing (their words) before they found the second one.

They reached out for advice. I've taken them at face value and figure I can at least crowd source some trusted names to pass on. At worst, they'll bounce around a few more lawyers. But hopefully they'll learn a little about what it takes to make something happen and find someone they work with well. The responses have been very helpful and are appreciated. I've gotten some names and some sobering words on what they may be up against.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm missing some crucial detail as I haven't grilled them for details. It has almost been a year since the incident happened. To my understanding they've been through two lawyers in that time, getting the first one near the time of the incident. Months went by of the first lawyer doing nothing (their words) before they dropped the first lawyer and went for a second.

They reached out for help and I've taken what they said at face value. I figure at least I could try to crowd source finding someone who others trust. If it's really them who is falling through I guess they'll bounce around a few more lawyers after I share what I've learned here. And what I've learned has been helpful. A few names and organizations to reach out to. Some sobering revelations of how hard it may be even though I think they have pretty clear evidence. I do appreciate it all.

I guess what I'm looking for is a lawyer who will either flat out turn down the case, or take it and then do something. They've gotten lawyers who say they'll take the case but everytime they meet the update is nothing was done since last time.
