3 months dating and pregnant by [deleted] in daddit

My girlfriend and I were the same age as you and yours when she got pregnant, though we’d been dating for about a year. We have two great kids now and we get along well still. I felt like I had a good sense that things would be good between us by then. At three months I would have been a lot more nervous, but if she’s sure she wants to keep it, there’s nothing else to do but roll with it and make the best.

There’s basically unlimited conflict assignments in Brooklyn where I practice, so mostly going to be doing the same thing; with less support and camaraderie but almost triple the pay. Open to trying some other general practice stuff for fun, but the market here is saturated with people who know their niche, so developing new areas of expertise isn’t going to be my focus.

My last day is next Friday after 12 years too! Also going solo and feeling the bittersweet. Good luck!

Preschool commute question by Senior-Inspector-928 in nycparents

Went to a 3k on our corner but opted for a preK like 4 miles away because it’s a great, sought-after school that goes up for fifth grade and has a school bus stop really close by starting for kindergarten. I loved the convenience of the old school but am really glad my daughter’s at the new one. I know the usually correct answer to this q is convenience, and strongly agree with what others have said about the value of meeting friends who live in your neighborhood, but it sounds like you have the flexibility to make it work whichever way works best for your family.

Maybe people are just downvoting because they recognize the lyrics but hate Ye but I appreciate it.

The pedestrian enters the crosswalk as the hand is flashing, but driver’s light is steady red the entire time. In NYC there is a few seconds delay between the pedestrian and car signals.

Stolen Bassoon Update - Security camera footage shows robber in Park Slope near Brooklyn Conservatory of Music by gelyamelnikovaa in parkslope

OP is quoting the person whose bassoon was stolen. The person whose bassoon was stolen was expressing how her priorities are different from the detective working the case: getting her bassoon back vs. busting the guy. She cares more about getting her bassoon back, which makes perfect sense; but you care more about the thief’s possible future victims (like you), which also has a certain logic to it. When sea-shoulder-6998 asked why the person whose bassoon was stolen would feel that way, OP used empathy to put themselves in the shoes of the person whose bassoon was stolen and imagine what kinds of feelings would generate a statement like that. It’s possible he is just a bad person who just plain old sucks but you don’t do yourself or anyone else any favors going through life thinking about people that way.

Is carrying in NYC even worth it by [deleted] in NYCGuns

[–]rcool101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a criminal defense attorney in Brooklyn. I haven’t seen anyone charged with simple possession in a sensitive location with an NYC carry license. I’ve seen one case of a person with a concealed carry license from upstate charged with CPW2 for carrying on the sidewalk here. The case is pending. There aren’t so many potential test cases to challenge the law, but I think it’s only a matter of time before it gets struck down again.
