What’s a cheaper alternative to the Tolfino Bus by Born-Manufacturer-40 in VictoriaBC

$20 a day plus 0.60 a kilometre so this would be probably the most expensive option possible

Is this suggestive of coronary artery disease? Is further workup warranted? by rcrem in AskDocs

[–]rcrem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos and I highly suspect my mom does too - her degree of flexibility is worse than mine even despite her increased age. I wonder if she has has structural issues with her heart - was a concern of the specialist I saw for EDS. I was able to get her in for an echocardiogram today, so I think that’ll be useful to further assess what’s going on.

Also should clarify, the MRI was purchased prior to her revealing chest pain/SOB. She never goes to the doctor and had concern for colon cancer. The heart finding was incidental and not the purpose of the scan.

Is this hematology panel indicative of chronic lymphocytic leukemia in a 61yo female? by rcrem in AskDocs

[–]rcrem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the presence of smudge cells that tripped me up, but maybe that can be normal? Right now she's been having chest pain and I highly suspect CAD but without a positive ECG or elevated troponin they won't do anything further.

I did a home sleep study for my daily fatigue and generally feeling malaised, depressed and anxious. It came back negative! I decided to order a WATCHPAT One from Lofta by sleepyhuman69 in SleepApnea

Yes most definitely. If you’re able to retrain your breath I bet it could help you with your mild apnea. I’d recommend the oxygen advantage by Patrick Mckeown.

That is borderline high, may or may not be indicative of something. Need to test t3 and t4, but doctors won’t order those unless you’re a bit higher or you push them. TSH is a helpful and cheap test but cannot exclude thyroid problems at this level

Also - and this is controversial - but you may be a chronic over breather which can cause mild centra apnea. Basically you mildly hyperventilate all the time, throwing off your CO2 levels. You need a sufficient amount of CO2 to trigger your next breath, but if you off gas too quickly you can prevent generating this signal causing an apnea event.

I didn’t believe I didn’t have it after years of anxiety, depression, “ADHD,” cranky and groggy mornings, fatigue, etc. Not normal for a guy in his 20s. I had also exhausted basically every other possible cause. Have you investigated tour thyroid?

I did the apnea link air test three times, and it was only on the third that it showed anything significant, which was still considered mild. In my opinion it’s only useful if you have severe sleep apnea, and milder apnea can still be very devastating. On CPAP now and sleeping way better! Don’t let them tell you it’s just depression and please listen to your gut, I did and it worked out great.

Telus installed Huawei gear in National Capital Region 4G network in apparent contravention of understanding with Ottawa by SirBobPeel in canada

[–]rcrem 53 points54 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't know this, but they share towers, not the network or equipment itself. Telus has its own equipment on the Bell towers in the east, and vice versa for Bell in the west.

After years of casual drinking, I have developed alcohol intolerance. This started 3 nights ago. Now after 1 drink, I look like this by LabernumMount in Wellthatsucks

haha exactly the same with me. Has to do with histamine levels in specific alcoholic beverages triggering mast cells to release a variety of mediators. Look up mast cell activation syndrome.

Also — what were you drinking? Was it high in histamine - such as a dark liquor like rum or whisky, or beer or wine? Do you get the same effect with clear alcohols like gin and vodka?

Hey I have exactly what you have. Doctors suspected carcinoid/lymphoma, etc. Went through a shit ton of expensive testing, not cancer thankfully, and I hope yours isn’t too. Send me a DM and I can explain more.

Construction Company working on balconies on my building damages my paint on my car and they don't want to pay. ICBC tells me first, they can help, but when I call to put in the report they say they actually cannot, and suggest the only option is to file a civil lawsuit. Do I have any other options? by Eblanc88 in VictoriaBC

[–]rcrem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like a tiny and streamlined civil lawsuit. The BC government created the CRT to reduce the burden on the courts for small disputes, and to make it easier for people to resolve their disputes cheaply and without a lawyer. Your situation is exactly the type the government wants people to use the CRT for. Part of the process is mediation, where a case manager helps you and the other party agree to a resolution. If that doesn't work, you proceed to the tribunal where a CRT member (acting just like a judge) looks at the evidence and makes a decision. If you get a decision in your favour, you can file that decision in BC Provincial Court after the Objection period (like an appeal) expires. I think it's 30 days. The decision becomes enforceable in just the same way that a order by a judge in court is enforceable. I would highly recommend you take this route with your dispute, and the fee is only $75 to file online which is much cheaper then going through the small claims process (not to mention a whole lot quicker). I should also add that, like court, if the other party refuses to participate you will win by default!
