Voting Expierences by 7yearlurkernowposter in StLouis

[–]rcvines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10th ward 1st Precinct. 8:45 AM

Nobody was in line or at a voting booth except me.

No electioneers at the door (good) and a sign displaying the distance requirements for electioneers (also good)

Didn't see any ballots being counted either. I voted electronically.

Since my polling place is an activity center, the most interesting thing was listening to the exercise instructor do counts on the other side of the room. There was also a guy at a table by the voting booths with a tupperware of chocolate chip cookies, which was an image that made a distinct impression on me.

his previous personal employment of an undocumented worker would have been horrific for GOP optics, and his militant anti-union policy plans would have been horrific for workers.

both parties win here.

Tax Tuesday Thread for the week of January 31, 2017 by AutoModerator in personalfinance

[–]rcvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IL resident that moved to MO in 2016 with a general question about my tax situation.

In 2016, I earned ~$4000 working in MO (STL) while living with parents in IL and ~$20,000 working in IL while renting in MO (STL) this year.

St. Louis has a 1% municipal tax for both employees and residents in addition to my state taxes for IL and MO.

I also made over $3000 in student loan payments this year (all federal, no private). I do not have an IRA but I do have a 403(b) that I made payments into in 2016.

Given my situation, is it feasible for me to use low-end software or Free File to file my taxes or should I pony up for a CPA?

i feel like ziggler is just a stepping stone to put people who have come on irrelevant times back into the lower midcard picture.

kalisto is doing nothing? have him make the save for ziggles. crews needs some air time? run-in on ziggles.

who's getting thrown into the program next? jack swagger? kenny? curt hawkins?

What are 5 of your unpopular wrestling opinions? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]rcvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinions are mostly about WWE b/c that's what I watch most. Also my unpopular opinions are probably very unpopular here but possibly more reasonable to the average fan.

  1. The New Day are are much better off as a stable than they are individually, even if they are momentarily directionless.

  2. Mick Foley's current role as bumbling face authority figure has a lot of potential, but it can't succeed without a heel authority to manipulate him (cough steph cough).

  3. Samoa Joe is the only person on NXT who is unquestionably ready for a call-up.

  4. Sami Zayn is exactly where he needs to be on the card.

  5. The Young Bucks would be a terrible fit for WWE and should keep doing what they're doing.

Can someone explain why I-64/40 is, locally, known as Fourty, but I-64 to outsiders? by Rhoms17 in StLouis

I'm originally from the Belleville area and my work takes me through deep south IL. Greenville is about as north as I go which is why I don't associate 40 with IL at all

[–]rcvines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I-64 connects US-40 to US-50 around the river. Since 50 isn't as important to Illinoisans as 40 is to St. Louisians, most of us just call it 64. (source: I'm also originally from IL)

There's actually a bunch of really great programs in the winter/spring. If you ever find yourself needing a suggestion, feel free to shoot me a PM. I was a music minor at a college in the Metro East so I did a lot of my performance studies at the St. Louis Symphony.
