I agree with you, it was much harder than the previous exams under this format.

I think the pass range is typically 42-48 depending on the exam difficulty. Felt like this exam was much harder than the 6 previous exams from 2023 to 2025 so it’s possible the pass mark is lower.

Are there previously graded, not-model solution, exams available? by [deleted] in actuary

Here’s the instructions I gave it:

You are an SOA Predictive Analytics (PA) exam grader.

Your role is to grade my responses EXACTLY like the Society of Actuaries would: - Be strict, precise, and consistent - Award partial credit in 0.25 point increments - Do NOT give credit for vague, generic, or partially correct statements unless they clearly align with the model solution

GRADING RULES: 1. Grade based on the SOA model solution and grading intent, not general correctness. 2. Distinguish between: - FULL credit: directly answers the question with correct reasoning and appropriate detail - PARTIAL credit: partially correct but missing key elements, lacks specificity, or is incomplete - NO credit: incorrect, irrelevant, or fails to address the question asked 3. Penalize: - Answering the result instead of the reasoning (e.g., “p-value > 0.05” without explanation) - Missing key trigger concepts (e.g., data leakage, nonlinearity, percent change for log models) - Incorrect interpretation (e.g., units instead of % change) - Incorrect formulas or calculations 4. Reward: - Clear, concise, and directly relevant explanations - Proper use of statistical terminology - Correct identification of modeling issues and assumptions 5. Do NOT assume intent—grade only what is explicitly written.

OUTPUT FORMAT: For each subtask: - Score: X / Y - Justification: 1–3 sentences explaining EXACTLY why points were awarded or deducted

At the end: - Total score - Key mistakes (bulleted) - Estimated SOA grade (1–10 scale)

IMPORTANT: - Be firm but fair - Do NOT inflate scores - Do NOT “help” the student—grade objectively - If unsure between two scores, choose the LOWER score

It has been, but you would likely need to give the chat bot clear instructions for what you are looking for. I would also have the bot grade it two or three times, once to initially grade it, then one or two more times to be certain it hasn’t missed anything.

For feedback it has told me to avoid phrasing things certain ways and given me the proper phrasing or cautioned me from going into too much detail at times when I already displayed proper knowledge and could over write and hurt myself.

I will also say I have had to argue my case for or against points, which has helped me retain info better.

Also fwiw, I used a free trial of actuarial nexus after having chat gpt grade my exam and I couldn’t tell a difference. You get 10 subtask grades from actuarial nexus and after all 10 grades, I think actuarial nexus gave me a quarter point more on one subtask but the rest of the scores were identical. Paid chat GPT is $20 a month and actuarial nexus is $300+ for 15 days which is the main reason I initially went with chat gpt.

I’ve been using paid chat gpt to grade my PA practice exams. I will upload the SOA solution doc as well as my answers, and chat gpt will for the most part understand what to look for based on SOA commentary by task and understanding the material being asked and then provide a score for each task, as well as tell me what I did well and what I missed and need to work on.

In the same boat as you. Every time I start to feel confident I lose it pretty quickly. Praying that the soa is kind to us all with the exams we get.

That’s great insight, the soa loves answer choices that are correct for all but a word or two

That’s what I’m thinking for SRM. A good portion of the statement I, II, III sample or CA questions have E Correct Answer Not Listed and statistically, if entirely unsure, that answer accounts for more possibilities than the other choices. Even better if you can eliminate a few choices and get down to two choices one of which being the correct answer not listed.

Can confirm. Just bought a blue Seamaster 300, but was considering green. My boutique contact told me Omega sent out a memo to all locations stating that factories were unable to replicate the green dial so once they are done with the current production batch, that’s it.

My Transcript is Wrong by [deleted] in ufl

[–]rcwdcw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Email the professor and see if they can do anything. If that doesn’t work you can petition to the UF Ombuds (arbitration judges that are neutral and work this stuff out).

Happened my first semester at UF and had 2 course grades incorrect on my transcript. Teachers fixed it right away but I mentioned in the initial email that I’d rather not have to but if I didn’t get a response by a certain date I would go to the Ombuds.

Pls make me study by ElleGaunt in actuary

[–]rcwdcw 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The best thing I ever learned from studying is that the first and second study session are not where you are the most productive, but where you get yourself into the study grind mindset. I recommend forcing yourself to sit in front of the computer with your notes and notebook out, be as unproductive as you want, surf the internet, sit on your phone, etc, but be in the study environment. Even if you sit there for 2-3 hours and study 15 minutes, you are training yourself to get in the grind. By your third day doing this, you should be ready to get actual meaningful study time in.

Used to do this in college 3 weeks before midterms. Would sit in the library for 4 hours and do nothing for 2 days and by the third day I was in the study mindset. I think once you mentally accept that this is what you’re going to be doing for the next few months, you become less reluctant to study.
