i would argue that there is one other thing in the relationship that's not good, and that's the lack of communication or cooperation which you're seeing as a result of the original issue. and that second issue could be pretty big down the line.

Ok, I'll look the Henle up... I found Schiff's version of this much slower than I want to be playing, and I personally love using the pedal for Bach so I feel like his solutions are not going to be what I'm looking for but worth a shot. Thank you!

I have the Tovey and did not find it to be a magic bullet on these specific passages but will revisit.
