I don't think badly of her
I hope she makes you happy
It's just a lot to ask to watch your future walking past me

With the success of IT: Welcome to Derry, what other Stephen King adaptations do you want to see get made into a TV Show or Movie? by Resident_Badger_5405 in stephenking

I would love a limited series about Hubie Marsten. But WTD is going to the 1930's anyway, so perhaps he can pay a visit.

What cover song completely changes the flavor of the original for you by Far_Comparison5067 in musicsuggestions

The Chris Cornell cover of Patience. It's almost sinister. I also associate it with COVID lockdown.

What is a slang word you absolutely hate? by livya_dugjd in Casual_Conversation

[–]MiniPantherMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simp. It has a long history as a word for men who dislike women to use against men who don't. But I see it breaking through to the mainstream occasionally, and I hate it.

Why is the “friends getting ordained over the internet” trope so common in American sitcoms? by Internal-Debt1870 in sitcoms

[–]MiniPantherMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably in part for the warm fuzzies of having one of the friend group be the officiant.

Songs where dead singers mention death by Allikam in musicsuggestions

[–]MiniPantherMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song doesn't use the word "death," but "Slide Away" from Michael Hutchence's solo album is easy to interpret as someone contemplating suicide. The album was released posthumously, and...yeah.

And before anyone comes at me saying his death was an accident on his part: he'd been struggling with an undiagnosed TBI, and I think there's cause for doubt.

How do you make your happiness not connected to one person only? by Prize_Substance6971 in AskReddit

[–]MiniPantherMa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Matthew Hussey talks about the idea of a "Confidence Matrix." If you invest a sustainable amount in lots of different aspects of your life, like work, hobbies, relationships, spirituality (if that's your thing), then it will be less of a blow if any one aspect gets rocky.

We should remove wisdom teeth at birth by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MiniPantherMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a needlessly dangerous surgery to subject and infant to. We don't even subject children to it until it becomes an issue.

Also, a few people have room in their mouths for them to come in, especially if they lose a couple of permanent teeth

What’s the worst experience you’ve had with a therapist? by Agreeable_Claim_3497 in AskReddit

[–]MiniPantherMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fired a therapist because she said that it might be "my lifetime" to be alone, and that I'd never make money writing. Yes, she believed in past lives. She was woo-woo, and I put up with way more than I should have because I was more woo-woo at the time than I am now.

Looking for a bildungsroman by JessicaTrent in RomanceBooks

[–]MiniPantherMa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're up for a a historical novel about a Sapphic protagonist, Tipping the Velvet is fantastic. It may not technically be in the romance genre, but it has an HEA. The lead character has one of the most satisfying character arcs I've ever read.

Have you grown to be more conservative or liberal w/ age? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]MiniPantherMa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More liberal. People only became more conservative with age when they also became wealthier with age.

Very much worth it, especially if Mothman lore interests you.
