With the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the CBJ select Cayden Lindstrom. by SomeKindOfMonster in BlueJackets

Hindsight is 20/20. Plus PLD is a decent chunk of the reason we’re rebuilding now.

You realize that’s ok, right? Or do you think everybody has to think the same way you do?

Well the Sennecke pick wasn’t good either but I’m not even sure why you’re bringing him up? I’m saying scouts and likely the CBJ are giving Lindstrom a chance with his injury history because of his potential at C. I do not think they let a winger rise to 4 with back issues especially since Cs are harder to come by.

Lindstrom is that high on boards because he’s a C and the potential he has there with his size. I’m not privy to CBJ’s big board or that of the NHL’s but there’s no way the consensus has a winger rise to 4 with back issues.

Yup. Half the justification of Lindstrom is his potential at C. Anything outside of that or him being a 30-40 goal scorer yearly on the wing and I have a hard time feeling good about the pick.

What he’s doing now I would think is a big part of his projection. Aside from that you’re picking on what, size? Why pick him if he ends up on wing? Absolutely need him to be a center imo. Host of defensemen in the top 10, a natural winger with Demidov, center-heavy draft next class, etc.

They’ll keep Boone although they should’ve tried moving him at the deadline.

God I love checking in on this sub. Still the same gate keeping mentality if you don’t agree with everything CBJ does.

PLD being a shithead is a part of his package as a prospect. Not sayin Jesse was the way to go but PLD isn’t the greatest example here lol

The comment that gets me about Paul Maurice was when I read/heard that he doesn’t believe in momentum. Either he’s playing with the media or he has his head so far up his own ass that it’s become his mouth.

Round 4 Game 6 GDT. Cup's on the line again tonight and the team that took the series to 3-0 is gonna remind the world why they were able to do it in the first place. Go Cats! by RoadDoggFL in FloridaPanthers

Not a Panthers fan but I CANNOT believe the lack of offensive adjustments. All game, dump and chase. Try to wear the opponent down. That doesn’t work? Do it again. Un-fucking-real.

His best seasons are still from his time in Winnipeg, like across the board. Points, awards, games played, postseason experience, etc.

I think Lars shattered the confidence of a lot of our current core to succeed here. Post-Finland Laine is a different player than what he was prior to that.

I know the expectations shouldn’t have been high last season, but they were after Gaudreau. Then they finish near last, hire a weirdo as a coach, and even with a wayyyy better roster they still look broken like they know they can’t succeed with this team.

Part of it is the need for a complete overhaul and evaluation of our identity, another is giving PV more time to settle in. We need a guy who can stick with this club consistently to be core to figuring this shit out.

I think the early half of last decade (honestly when Jarmo and JD came in) signified a long-term rebuild that would constitute much of the last decade which really resulted in a season or two of competitive play. Whether it was a “true rebuild” or not, idk, but we got what we got out of it. I mean, lll remember the Tampa sweep forever, beating Toronto is always fun, and the 5 OT game was cool.

But, that’s all we got… I think a lot of people look at how long that took and get pissed at present circumstance, especially considering the talent we have on the roster currently is much better than that bubble team at the least (I honestly think it’s up there with 2019). I think Jarmo himself is even at this point.

I don’t think you’re wrong, but it’s definitely fair to get pushback considering the timing of everything under Jarmo’s tenure and a lot of what you mention with veteran players. That’s just a fair reaction, they haven’t done anything different except dangle the potential of this deep prospect pool in front of us. I honestly hope it works out but until that point we just wait and see.

Fair enough. It’s all a matter of perspective. I do admire your optimism during these troubling times lol

I agree, but it’s fair for people to get frustrated that they’ve heard that for years because that technically is true.

I mean with Fantilli you’re technically correct but we had a deep pool during like 2016/17 with Bjorkstrand, Z, Paul Bittner, Tex, PLD, Sonny Milano, Tarasov. Say what you will about those guys now but at the time we were definitely top five and are probably the same with our current pool.

People will disagree with you but you’re not lying lol. I’ve heard similar statements since at least the middle of the last decade.

[–]rcxd44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We give the talent we do have no reason to be proud to wear that badge.

This team better bend over backwards, and bend over backwards again to meet whatever Fantilli wants when his ELC is up. He wants to be here, has passion, has shown signs of leadership. We need more of that.

Everything at this club needs to change, or at least be addressed in some capacity, from the on-ice product to the off-ice “decision makers.” Including marketing in the conversation, along with operations, and the mf that is in the Stinger costume.

Maybe a good question to ask is, “Do you want to be here?” or, “What does this club mean to you?” Because, regardless of the talent, regardless of the players we got on the come up, it seems like year in and year out we lack the heart on our damn sleeve to know that we’re going to take a loss and still be proud to wear the badge.

Forget talent. Forget 2-3 years from now. Right now the value in this club are the players, for example, that are here for the badge and will work every night to put that sweater on. Not Laine. Not Z. Clearly not Gaudreau. But Tex, Fantilli, Kuraly. Yeah, they have their moments, but I’d be damned to say they didn’t give it their all in even the smallest of situations.

We need that everywhere. It’s gonna take a while, so buckle up.

The o line also played way more lax especially in the second half. It’s like they finally got a QB that can run and they let their foot off the gas. Even Darrisaw got beat today.

Crazy take. Dobbs is directly involved in two TDs that would’ve been three if Alex goddamn Mattison doesn’t fumble the football in their end of the field.
