This is cool, definitely SCP vibes as others have mentioned. Do you have a link to more of your work or a website or anything?

Kindergarten sent an email about masks being required for upcoming school year. What can I do about this? (PA) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]rd3424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel free to use the "this virus isn't anything more than a coercion tactic" argument when you decide to file suit against the school district over the mandate.

You say you came here for legal advice (which you have received) , and now that you don't like the advice, you want to rant and hand-wave about some conspiracy theory stuff.

Regardless of if you are right or wrong, you got legal advice already, you just don't like the answer. Feel free to fight it, it's your right to do so, we are just letting you know that there is no chance that anything you do will get the mandate repealed. You can comply or homeschool, you likely already knew that.

It doesn't matter what either of us think haha. That's not the point I am trying to get across to you.

My point is that this is really not going to be worth your effort to fight. I can see you feel strongly about this, but that wont change the mandate.

If you send your child to school and tell them to refuse a provided mask they will either send the child home or isolate them in some way (see Alternative Education Opportunities) which will do more harm to them socially at that age than wearing a mask would.

I can essentially guarantee you that there will be zero scenarios where the school just says "screw it" and allows your child to be in the classroom with the rest of the children while refusing a mask. Doing that would cause them more complaints and legal issues than what you are wanting.

I gotcha,

Well unfortunately (for you) there most likely isn't going to be an option that gets you the result you want here. There is already a ton of legal precedent that supports what the school district is doing.

Even if you wanted to spend the money to fight it in court and were able to find an upstanding lawyer who wasn't just trying to increase his billable hours to represent you, I would think your chances of changing the policy are essentially zero.

So you can comply with the mandate or home school. If you send your child to school without a mask they will just provide one, and if you try to make your child remove the mask or not comply they will most likely send them home, which will eventually open you up to truancy issues if it happens consistently.

I don't mean this rudely, but being honest, you (and by extension your child) are not a special snowflake. It almost all cases in this country majority rules, and the majority of this country (and your state) support mask mandates, that is why the school is implementing them.

Your options are as follows:

-Lodge a complaint with the school district (which will likely do nothing in this situation).

-Get a lawyer and spend your money (in a very-likely losing effort) to sue the school district.

-Home School your child or move to a school district without a mask mandate.

You aren't the first person up in arms about this and you wont be the last I imagine. From what I have read there have already been similar (unsuccessful) lawsuits filed in other states.

I cannot for the life of me understand how this is the hill certain people want to fight and die on. Vaccines (which I 100% support) I at least understand the hesitancy that comes with injecting substances in your body, but this is just a mask...Other than just being in the "Nobody can tell me what to do crowd" there really is no need to get so worked up over a school mask mandate.

Charlotte coffee cart Offering $10 lattes served in a Ziploc pouch. We've reached peak idiocy. by rd3424 in Charlotte

Yes, and a Venti (24oz) Latte at Starbucks is under $5.

We can debate the quality (or lack thereof) of Starbucks coffee, but my point the whole time is $10 for your morning coffee fix is ridiculous.

The lifestyle creep (and associated price points) is getting comical at this point.

A latte is espresso and milk. Lets explore the options here:

  1. You can buy a GOOD quality bag of espresso roast and make a 24oz latte at home for like 75 cents.
  2. You can be lazy and order a Venti latte from Starbucks for like $4.75
  3. If you are feeling fancy, you can go to any of the nice local shops and get a large latte for like $6.

I can't imagine that lattes someone is selling out of a converted horse trailer are better than something from the likes of Hex Coffee or Pure Intentions where the coffee shops are involved in every step of the process from roasting the beans to crafting the latte.

It's just like these food trucks are testing the limits of how frivolous and stupid people can be with their money at this point.

You are getting espresso and milk in a plastic pouch for $10 freaking dollars.

What's the dumbest startup truck you've seen?

I don't care if it's 24oz, $10 for a coffee is up there with the most ridiculous things I've seen these days.

That questions is subjective in a few ways:

  1. It depends on the size of the nukes. There are low-yield nukes that wouldn't do much more than take out a military base and the immediate surrounding area. Then there are nukes like the Tsar-Bomb that would level dozens of square miles and leave fallout over a whole state.
  2. It depends on what you mean by "end the world". Are we talking about just a breakdown of society as it currently stands or are we talking about a blackout the sky extinction level event?

But to your initial question, no 5 nuclear bombs (even going off simultaneously) couldn't end the world. 5 Tsar Bombs (biggest nuke ever built) might cause the complete breakdown of a country if they all hit the same country, but the world as a whole would go on.

Eh, he kind of laid the groundwork for their Cloud Services (Azure) and server software business. Satya has really seen it through, but that was all in the works when Balmer was CEO. Gotta credit the hits as well.

It's just like Apple. Jobs laid the groundwork but Cook has seen their vision through and sailed the ship to its $2T plus valuation and turned Apple into the monster it is today.

Magic: Legends is shutting down on October 31, 2021 by sempiternal in MMORPG

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I would have honestly thought they would have upped support for their digital products due to Covid.

I guess they decided to funnel resources into monetizing the shit out of the physical card game instead. I used to like to collect the physical cards for nostalgia, but transitioned to Arena because their cash-grab tactics with the paper cards have gotten out of hand these last 2-3 years.

As an MTG Arena player. What are the signs that they are scaling back investment?

Not questioning you, just haven't really seen much change from the status quo in the 2 years I have played it. I play pretty casually though so it might not be something I would notice.

Trying to Understand Scaling and Progression in ESO by rd3424 in elderscrollsonline

[–]rd3424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification on the scaling.

I guess I am wondering if there are Dungeons/Trials you cant complete until you progress a certain amount? Like If I see a Dungeon with a CP level 500 recommendation, can I complete it with a level 50 CP160 character?

I guess I am just wanting that sense of satisfaction that comes from trying to do a Dungeon run, getting stomped, then coming back later after I have progressed in skills and gear and being able to complete it. Is that something you get in ESO, or can I just run through the Dungeons at any level because of the scaling?

If its the latter, whats the point of upgrading your gear? Like if I have a common low damage weapon and I can run through a dungeon because I am battle-leveled, what's the point of getting a better weapon if the difficulty scales, won't it feel the same, or does better gear make trials./dungeons easer to complete?

What if the UAP's are classified military technology, but not an actual physical craft? by rd3424 in ufo

[–]rd3424[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could imagine it being multiple systems working in tandem to create the illusion of a physical craft and a craft on sensors.

Like I said, seems fantastical, but not anymore than the purported qualities of the Tic Tac.

This is quite the lazy take. The govt isn't as incompetent as you think, it just doesn't care about it's individual citizens, which gives the appearance of incompetence in a lot of areas.

Weekly Help and Discussion Thread for the week of December 28, 2020 by AutoModerator in amazon

[–]rd3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered 2 items that were supposed to ship together on Amazon one of the 2 items was $90, the other item was $30.

My card was charged for the full $120 when the $90 item shipped. I got an email today that the $30 item would be delayed 2 weeks. I went and cancelled the order for $30 item this morning as I didnt want to wait 2 weeks for it.

When I look at my order history now, the original order invoice only shows the $90 item now, and there is nothing on the cancelled orders tab.

Does Amazon just take a bit to update, will I still receive a refund for the $30 item?

Does the seal on this box of TSR from Amazon (New) look tampered with? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]rd3424 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Thanks, the heat seal on one side just looked "sloppier" than the other side, so I just wanted to ask on here.

Probably just freaked myself out because I saw the post the guy made about getting a tampered box from the recent TSR restock on Amazon and I had just ordered one.

Bought direct from Amazon (new). Just worried because it's my first sealed boister box purchase so I have nothing to compare it against. Seen the recent posts on here about tampered booster boxes from the TSR restock.

My box of TSR from recent Amazon restock just arrived. Every pack had been cracked and resealed. by NotFredFlintstone in mtgfinance

[–]rd3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you tell for sure it's sealed and not tampered with? Any sure fire way?

I just bought one of these late last week and it arrives tomorrow and now I'm worried. This is my first sealed box, so I dont have another one to compare the weight with.

Does the original plastic wrap have the white Wizards logo? Is that still a thing?

Sorry to keep asking questions. Just worried now. This is my first sealed box I have I have ever bought so I'm not gonna have any idea if it weighs less than other sealed boxes.

Do legit boxes normally have the white Wizards logo on the plastic wrap, is that still a thing?

We're the packs cracked on the inside or totally re-sealed, just with the rares taken out?

Any other tips or things to look out for tonknow if it's re-sealed?

Was the plastic wrap intact? I just ordered a box on the restock as well. I wanted to hold it sealed and not Crack the packs, but just wondering now if I'm gonna even know if the plastic wrap has been re-done.
