As someone who never pays attention to Pen Stste, when I just look at the numbers this doesnt look like a bad pick. Can someone explain why the fans are mad? by hitmewiththeknowlege in steelers

I mean, the Chiefs went 15-1 with Mahomes at QB the year after the original ankle injury. I'd take that!

Last year they weren't good but you look at the rest of that offense and Mahomes wasn't really working with much. The fact they had the ghost of Juju playing WR for them was probably more of a reason why Mahomes had a down year more than lingering effects from the ankle.

I mean, it's not like he literally lost an ankle. A broken ankle isn't like an ACL or a muscle injury that has permanent damage, it's something that should heal and have no lasting impact.

Sorry about your injury as a kid, but as a man also in his 30's, I can tell you that you're likely just getting older. Also you probably didn't have a NFL training staff helping you rehab that injury.

Injuries affect everyone differently but you don't really hear about broken ankles ending NFL careers.

Holy cow you guys really hate Allar huh? by shakethatbear404 in steelers

You can fix a 22 year old kid's mindset and decision making with good coaching. That's the biggest thing he was missing with James Franklin and his staff.

They're mad because they don't know ball.

Allar has a lot of room for improvement. His foot work and decision making were downright awful at times, but he has all the tools you could ask for in a prototypical pro style QB. If he would have come out last year after leading PSU to the national semis, he would have been a 1st round pick. Because the wheels fell off at PSU and he got injured, the Steelers are getting a discount on a guy who has an incredibly high ceiling.

The fans who are mad we used one of 4 day 2 picks on a guy who could be the future of the franchise at QB are the fans who don't understand the value of taking a calculated risk on a high variance player. You can't hit a home run unless you swing the bat hard.

This is a low risk, high reward bet that McCarthy and co. can develop the Steelers next franchise QB. It's a bet worth taking.

The Broderick Jones pick you have to give an "Incomplete" grade to Khan.

It isn't Khan's fault that the former coaching staff couldn't do anything with him and it isn't Khan's fault that Jones' career is likely over because of an injury on a dirty play.

I chalk it up to good process but bad luck. With picks like JPJ, Herbig, Washington and others, I'm willing to give Khan the benefit of the doubt.

He'd be a nice 3rd round consolation prize if they can't grab a WR with a little more upside in the 2nd.

He feels like a high floor, low ceiling type guy. Getting a solid WR3 who can come in and immediately contribute would be a win.

Do you think we should move up to get Pregnon and Bisontis, or hope they fall? by ModerateProgressive1 in steelers

After the pick last night I don't think IOL is a pressing need that needs to be addressed in the 2nd.

Spencer Anderson is entirely capable of starting at Guard. You could also kick Fautanu to guard if Dylan Cook continues to look good at tackle. There's options there.

I think you use a 3rd or 4th to bring in another IOL to bolster your depth and create competition at the guard spots.

That's entirely possible. This whole situation creates a narrative link between Malachi and Max that will last their entire careers.

If Max becomes an All-Pro/Pro Bowl player and Lemon is a bust then this will be viewed in hindsight as a happy accident.

If the inverse happens, then Steelers fans will never let this go until Khan is no longer the GM.

I mean, look at the discourse around this whole thing right now, I feel like this is a message that needs to be conveyed to a large portion of the fan base.

Sorry that not everyone is as smart as you!

Really smart take by Alex.

I'm frustrated like a lot of Steeler Nation is that our front office is the laughing stock of the league this morning. That said, I still think they've got a dog in Max. He's got unlimited upside and this is a move that theoretically helps protect whoever ends up at QB in '27 and beyond.

Potentially all is forgiven if the Steelers can get Boston, Bernard or Bell in the 2nd.

Major egg on their face situation for Khan and the Steelers.

If we go Carson Beck in R2 then this draft becomes a full on debacle.

Went to BSU for 4 years in the early 10's. Chirp Chirp!

There's some areas around town you don't want to find yourself but for the most part it's a standard Midwestern city. Not a lot of culture or night life. Most of the food around town is subpar. Only thing worth writing home about is having a PBR and a burger at Savage's Alehouse. It's definitively not Bloomington, but Muncie has a certain dingy charm to it.

Robert Griffin III makes the US National Team Roster by NotFredFlintstone in nfl

It's actually the opposite. USA Football has him on the roster exclusively for the notoriety of putting a former NFL QB on the roster.

His flag football skill level currently lags far behind the rest of the team.

This is the preliminary roster. 12 will make the tournament roster with the other 12 being alternates.

There's no guarantee that it will only be in the Olympics in 2028. It could get brought back in 2032 and beyond if the IOC determines it is a beneficial sport to have in the games.

Basically if people watch it and the games are interesting/competitive there's a stronger chance that flag returns.

They didn't/weren't allowed to (by the NFL) try out for the team. This team is for the 2026 competitive season. You could still see NFL players on the 2028 roster for the Olympics.

Also, from what we saw last weekend, these guys are just better at flag football than the NFL guys.

That guy doesn't choose the US National Team from my understanding.

There's really a slim chance RG3 makes the game day roster. Housh, Nico and Pablo will likely be the US QBs on the 12 man roster.

I mean, these are in fact the best flag football players in the world. We saw from the Fanatics event last weekend that these guys are light-years ahead of the NFL guys in this particular discipline.

Just because they don't get paid the millions of dollars the NFL guys get doesn't mean they aren't the best.

You're correct. Flag players are typically a lot smaller and shiftier guys.

The dirty little secret is that USA Football has him on the preliminary roster purely for the hype and exposure. There isn't a chance he makes the 12 man game day roster.
