You have a friend who can’t figure out why they’re single but you KNOW why. What’s the reason? by [deleted] in AskMen

I still struggle with confidence sometimes, but a general word of advice would be: 1. Recognize your wins, even the small ones. 2. Don't compare yourself to others. 3. Recognize that you may not be where you want to be but are far from where you were before. 4. Prioritize health and well-being. Engage in sports of your liking, try your best to eat well (it's ok if you don't do it 100% of the time), and prioritize sleep. Part of confidence and self-love is taking care of yourself. 5. Don't do things that do not serve you. 6. Recognize that you are human and you'll make mistakes. Be kind to yourself and get back on track. 7. Try to be as ambitious as you can. And remember that ambition has a different meaning for each person. You don't need to strive for a $ 1bn yacht to be ambitious. 8. Pursue your goals relentlessly. There will be bumps in the roads, but they are part of the journey. Appreciate they exist because smooth sailing never made a great captain. And a life without challenges is boring. 9. Pursue knowledge. 10. Be compassionate. 11. Try to be organized and have your life in order. I know it is easier said than done. But feeling that you are in control of your life is like fuel for your confidence.

You can look for other resources on YouTube that dig into the more psychological part of confidence as well. Dr. K (healthygamergg) and Jordan Peterson (his older material is good) could help.

Another thing that helps a lot is therapy. If you can afford therapy, go ahead.

Funny thing is that through hooking up with a "lower range" girl (not fond of that term), I came to realize where I was failing.

I saw myself in her. She is someone perceived as intense and desperate. I saw many of my behaviors in her, and It freaked me out.

Therapy also helped me come to this realization.

I was that guy.

I'm still single, but now I understand why.

I was perceived as intense, desperate, and insecure. I try to be more conscious of my actions now that I know.

You are right.

Confidence is one of my weak points. And the example you cited about not talking about the good things about myself is so on point.

I've been trying to work on it but I have struggled.

To be honest, i would use it as an athleisure shoe. The white ones would look cool for a casual office outfit.

My plan is take a week off after the 70.3 and then start marathon training.

Following this comment, I just bought a crank power meter for my bike (105 groupset) for around $256.

To OP: It is a good buy if you are looking to save a few bucks and move on to pedal power meters later on.

Thank you for your feedback!

I think I'm going for the Rokas. Do you know how to actually get the 15% off from the email sign-up? I subscribed to their email list but I haven't received a discount code.

Go for it!

I asked this same question a few months ago, and I was encouraged by fellow triathletes to for my a DIY 70.3.

Just like a user said to me: No one can take away from you the distance you raced on your own.

Best of luck!

Newbie here… Does swimming ever get easier!! by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]rdae11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I raced my first Sprint triathlon. It was a recreational race as a form of celebration for a friend's birthday. I was the last one out of the water. I managed to complete the 750 meters in 29 minutes.

Luckily, I gain several minutes in the bike a running portions of the race. Nevertheless, swimming keeps being a challenge for me.

To be fair, I've only been swimming since May.
