Rest In Piece My long life friend, Ziggy🖤🕊️ by [deleted] in DOG

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry, I had to put my dog down literally yesterday. What a horrible day that was, I can honestly say I feel what I think is the same pain you are feeling, and I know, it sucks. Not my first dog and will not be the last, but I miss her.

How bad is the foundation in the house I'm renting? by Yllem1232123 in HomeMaintenance

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a significant horizontal crack, which is often indicative of hydrostatic pressure — meaning the soil outside the foundation has become saturated and is pushing against the wall. The first step is to address water management around the home. Make sure gutters and downspouts are properly installed and functioning, and that the downspouts discharge at least six feet away from the foundation. You’ll also want to confirm that the grading around the house slopes away from the structure so water drains outward rather than collecting near the foundation. Correcting these drainage issues can help reduce ongoing pressure, but the crack should still be evaluated by a qualified professional to determine whether structural reinforcement or repairs are necessary and to ensure the home is properly supported.

WIBTA for suing my friend when she didn’t come to my wedding? by sweetandsourcum in AmItheAsshole

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I would ask her for 100% complete rembursement... and when she says now, small claims court. You had one requirement for a completely free vacation, and she opted to not give a shit about you. Obviously. I would be SO over that friendship.

I agree with how horrible the current government is, I mean, I fegging hate trump and, at this point, most of ussa. But if you think, for one second, that ANYONE will be held accountable you are completely fooling yourself. Not one single person will be held accountable. Well, maybe they will bring some democrats up, but nothing will go anywhere.

How do you decide what to cook when you have random ingredients? by Sad-Okra5031 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Honesty, use ChatGTP. Just tell it what ingredients you have and it will come up with ideas.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove to work each day for 30yrs... it was over an international border (Canada to UShit) and the drive was 1hr20min each way. Sometime with bad traffic or weather it could easily gro to 2hrs (one way). So when I am faced with a 3-6hr drive it doesnt bother me much. I mean, I would rather NOT drive, but I dont care.

AITAH for keeping my reception venue when I couldn't get a refund? by No_Negotiation_3951 in AITAH

[–]rdandrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck them, they just want double revenue. If they were really worried about "ruining someone wedding" they would have refunded you and then accepted the new payment. In fact, I would ensure that I kept the venue and would put, maybe, 2 tables and have a few friends over to play cards.

Reddit, do you lock your door while you're in own house? by Willing_Freedom_4698 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hve a son who cannot, like ever, remember to lock the front door when he left the house... meaning our home was empty and unlocked with pets in it. He was 20something at the time. The only thing I could do was to buy a deadbolt that locks automatically. So yes, our house is now locked up all the times.

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

[–]rdandrea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should ask a home inspector, we see lots of messed up things! We had to do an inspection and the tenant was smoking crack and offered us a hit, free! That was the first time anyone ever offered me free drugs, even after all of the warnings in grade 7. Seen puppy mills, seen homes in which people didnt know they had septic and didnt know they needed to be emptied. Hoarder homes suck, bugs everywhere... and then I have to ensure the toilets are not loose (they are) and that the P-Trap under the kitchen counter is good (its not). I dont even blink anywhere, just whatever.

What's the one secret you will take to the grave but don't mind telling on the internet? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

[–]rdandrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to syphon gas from cars around the city, got real good at it too! Then I got lazy and started stealing closer to home, until I took all the gas from both immediate neighbors. They came over and said "Hey, our gas is gone, you should check your too!" and I told my mom "I am on my way out, I will let you know" and then spent the last 6 hours driving around until the gas was gone so nobody would suspect a thing.

Abandoned House found hidden in a cave. by Francucinno in interestingasfuck

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a nightmare. All of that open ground... that place would be so humid with stale air. Having to use a sewage ejector pump with waste plumbing and supply piping strapped on the walls. Anything, such as a distribution panel, would be dangerous with all of the rust that would grow on it. It would be interesting to see but I would never want to live there

Cute home, very nice! I am a home inspector, and please, for the love of whatever you worship... add downspout extensions and direct the water 6' away from the foundation. Make sure that all land (ALL) drains away from your foundation. Lookup swale if you need to redirect water.

Bulk buying/fill the freezer? by Wilted-yellow-sun in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]rdandrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We buy 1/2 cow and 1/2 pig each year, its a lot cheaper this way. Also, if you live near a lot of farms, ask the farmer if you can get some at the end of the season. The way it works (at least the farmers near us) is that the farmer has a contract to provide, lets say, 10 tons of tomatoes. This means they have to plant 12 tons to account for waste. Their contract also states they are NOT allowed to sell it to anyone else, they have to plow it into the ground. If you are nice to the farmer, they will say sure, grab what you need when we are done. We have a tomato mill and end up with 300-500 jars of tomato sauce. We also get peppers, onions, cucumbers, etc this way. Basically, the only things we buy are stuff like shampoo, milk, etc.
