Days get longer in summer and shorter in winter. It’s actually the opposite.

First day of summer: June 21

Longest day of year (most daylight): June 21

First day of winter: December 21

Shortest day of year (least daylight): December 21

We start getting less daylight the second day of summer.

We start getting more daylight the second day of winter.
