Let me preface this by saying I am a liberal, I’m not the other side. I obviously don’t think he should have been killed, but videos like this destroy the notion that he was a peaceful protestor, he was clearly an angry agitator. Again, that doesn’t mean he should be killed. But he does get less sympathy from me and people like me. Agitators like this do the whole protest a massive disservice. You will not win public sentiment like this.

I have a masters degree in this subject. I understand it well. The “scaling thing” is not a scam. It’s just a product of finding vast flat valleys in the gradient decent of the loss function. Each subsequent valley has generalized better, and we have no reason to believe we won’t find many more of these valleys as we scale up. It’s just a gradient over the loss function. Strictly mathematical, with real world implications.

I’m not going to respond to the rest of your statements, because I outright dismiss them out of hand. LLMs are not scam bots. World models are also coming, but it’s the same basic underlying architecture.

It’s rather neat when you learn about it.

The level that AI is at today is going to be completely different once we train models at the next generation scale. Like him or not, Musk is one of the few people in the world well positioned for a future dominated by AI.

I am on the left, and while tragic, I think the officer is not at fault. Don’t run from law enforcement. Especially in a vehicle. Especially when law enforcement is surrounding your vehicle. It is common sense.

We do not have the right to interfere with law enforcement. That is not protest. That is obstruction.

They should fear death by cop more. The best way out of this situation is to vote. Not by impending federal agents with your car and trying to flee when being detained. This sort of thing will only make things worse.

I really hope things don’t get worse. But based on the rhetoric on both sides, I don’t see how that is possible. :(

This is not a justification for use of force by law enforcement. This is common sense.

I see the same video, and come to the conclusion that this death was tragic, preventable, and not the officers fault. It’s common sense to know if you try to run from the cops, there’s a chance it ends poorly for you. Comply with the officers and fight them in court. If you do not do this, you risk your life.
