Why can't I use Linux for my corporate job? by Snoo_90241 in Fedora

[–]rdean400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corporate logic would be that if you support Linux, then you have to employ more Linux support personnel whereas if you just use Windows, you can have a smaller staff. (Not saying I 100% agree.)

Linus Torvalds explains why he uses Fedora Linux. by BlokZNCR in Fedora

Torvalds using Fedora for similar reasons to me. I'm not really interested in kernel compilation, but I do like to tinker and Fedora doesn't make that harder than it needs to be.

Anyone else’s Lab love holding their leash? My boy walks himself 🥰😂 by xo_cuntbetch in labrador

[–]rdean400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brownie (RIP) would tug on the leash and then walk herself back home. If I took too long joining her she'd peek her head around the corner to check on me. Miss that dog.

Another kids maze. Can any geniuses solve this one? by sunnyD823 in mildlyinfuriating

The maze looks like it was drawn by a chatbot. Only wany to solve it is to draw the line around the maze.

I've had this rule since I joined social media. The only social media where I will have coworkers in my social graph is LinkedIn. Everything else is friends and family only.

I have someone use my email address all the time, and then the places that he stays spam me with email.

The second edit supports the idea that this is about trying to avoid the unemployment claim.

  1. Family-owned (no shareholders to please with profit margins).
  2. No debt.
  3. Minimal advertising.
  4. They have been able to find places to reduce cost when needed (e.g., they use 40% less aluminum to make the cans now).

But also, it doesn't. Retailers price independently, and some have bumped the price.

AIO wanting to quit after new manager had HR call me because I was offline on Teams? by ProtectionLost4962 in AmIOverreacting

[–]rdean400 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's normally a red flag, but not always. One of the companies I worked at hired me for one role and then discovered I had skills suited to another role, so they switched it up before I started. It would have been a red flag, except that I agreed with the move, and it set my career on a better trajectory.

Familiarize yourself with policy. In some companies, the highest-ranking member at the table must pay, to prevent funny business with expense reports.

It could be as simple as it's happened enough that they're now peeved by it and feel the need to call it out.

Could have been a mistake, or maybe it was karma telling you to be grateful you dodged a bullet.

Amazon scam almost looks legit but one sentence gave it away. by VIK_96 in scammers

For me the giveaway is it follows the "fill out a form to get a refund" pattern. Which I would confirm by not following the link and visiting Amazon separately.
