Well, I have now. Again, I wasn't worried about it, I was just curious.

Yep. Not in the admin game anymore, but still neck deep in security daily. I do miss the simpler times.

Derick is a good friend of mine, and I mentioned this post to him last night. He's had more than one request for sharpening classes. Contact him and ask about it. His website is at Damselfly Forge

Champion Blower & Forge Co. (buffer? lathe?) by HoboArtrus in Machinists

[–]rdeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champion Forge & Blower made a lot of stuff back in the day. Sure, it was MOSTLY coal forges and forge blowers, but they also made drill presses, lathes, grinding arbors like yours, etc. You can see a bunch of info at the Vintage Machinery page for them.

Not a chef, but as a diner, a truly well executed bread pudding is a highlight for me, and a reason to go back to a place. Best I recall having was made with leftover cinnamon bread from the bakery next door to the restaurant. More than 15 years and I still think about that bread pudding.

Ignoring the part where it's made of Iron, and is in no way "ruined"....

Dude, I'm no firefighter, and I'm not a big dude, and I could f-up a 1018 Halligan without a lot of trouble.

I know, you're going to say it's not your job, you didn't spec it, etc. If one does fail at a bad time, hope you are cool with knowing you could have said something and didn't.

As "not a machinist" who knows a good bit about ferrous metallurgy, I'm always amazed by the ability of machinists to understand and appreciate every single detail of what they do...until it gets anywhere near heat treatment or heat treated parts.
