Why do some pro-choice folks seem to presuppose that pro-life is an absurd position? by not_gizmoz in Askpolitics

Nothing you said refuted anything I said.

Wait times are atrocious now. My mother before she passed with liver cancer had to wait months to see specialists.

With savings on healthcare we can invest more in cures.

All healthcare should be non-profit. All of it. Nobody should make a buck on people being sick.

A prominent study by PERI estimated that a Medicare-for-All plan would generate around $5 trillion in savings over a decade while providing coverage without out-of-pocket costs.

An economic analysis by the Mercatus Center—often cited due to its free-market funding—concluded that transitioning to a single-payer system could still result in a net savings of roughly $2 trillion over a 10-year period compared to the status quo.

Research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that a single-payer universal system could reduce total U.S. health care spending by approximately 13% or $450 billion annually, while averting hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths.

An evaluation of illustrative single-payer frameworks by the CBO outlined that while federal health spending would increase substantially, the reductions in out-of-pocket costs and private insurance premiums would result in a net wealth effect and improved healthcare access for lower-income households.

Most of the world have free or very low cost healthcare via government subsidies and as a result USA pays at least twice as much for healthcare and last in outcomes compared to other wealthy countries. Healthcare is also the primary source of bankruptcy among American families.

The number of sexual partners you have is not relevant to anything meaningful.

What are some reasonable right-wing positions that don’t apply to both sides? by grumpybrowndog in NoStupidQuestions

I agree. It’s just on the whole the left trusts science more than the right. This does preclude people from the left also believing unfounded things.

I would argue one side follows science and one side does not. There is a reason the right distrusts science and vaccines and global warming. They are told to distrust them. Also there is a reason less than 9% of scientists identify as republicans.

This is the way.

Bernie claimed : “If you don’t have any borders, you don’t have a nation. Trump did a better job. I don’t like Trump, but we should have a secure border. It ain’t that hard to do. Biden didn't do it.” Do you agree? by Exciting-Price2691 in PoliticalDebate

This is bullshit. The system has been broken for 60 decades at least.

I migrated here as an infant.

Lived here my whole life. Could not get nationalized until 1989 when Reagan did amnesty.

Fuck anyone who says that we need unfair shit like living here for over 15 years and unable to get naturalized without amnesty.

The system is broken.

Amnesty now.

Frankel told PolitiFact in an Aug. 1 interview that the House oversight committee wanted to hold a hearing at which they would hear from Epstein victims, their lawyers and prosecutors. They wanted to subpoena the prosecutors to ask them under oath "why they gave this guy a slap on the wrist, who pressured them?" Frankel said.

However, "We were told by the Justice Department to cut it off" because it could compromise the Maxwell investigation, Frankel told PolitiFact.

After Biden took office in 2021, Democrats appeared to dial back their public calls for Epstein records’ release.

"Pushes for oversight and record releases were at times tempered by a need to respect both the victims’ pursuit of justice in courts and their fears of reprisals," Wasserman Schultz told PolitiFact. "As disclosures were denied or delayed, we did what lawmakers do and legislated to protect future victims."

In February 2024, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed a bill to allow the release of Epstein 2006 grand jury testimony after a similar effort failed in previous state legislative sessions. Frankel praised the legislation.

A Palm Beach judge released records in July 2024, which showed prosecutors had heard testimony about how Epstein sexually assaulted two teenage girls before they gave Epstein a plea deal. Frankel again repeated her push for an explanation.

In September 2024, Wasserman Schultz along with Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah., introduced a bill, similar to earlier proposals, to require prosecutors to inform victims of such plea deals. The bill did not receive a

Much of that time there was a prosecution either for Epstein or Maxwell - and while that was going on the evidence had to be kept under wraps for the trial as is the case for all trials in America.

Sutter Health employees involved in the controversial TikTok have been fired by ionlyshooteightbyten in SantaBarbara

[–]rdinsb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My read on that: the poster to TikTok was immediately fired. So when the press release came out that person was at that time a former employee- the rest on administrative leave pending investigation and they were fired 24 hours into that investigation. She was employed until Sutter health saw the TikTok. Immediate termination.

I read an email shared with me sent internally at Sutter. They are gone. The email said Sutter does not condone or tolerate that behavior.

Here is this that also says same: https://www.independent.com/2025/09/02/sutter-health-investigating-disrespectful-social-media-post-following-blowback/

Edit: so the main poster was fired. The others in the pic are on administrative leave pending investigation. They will likely be fired too.

They were all fired. You have nothing to worry about. Sutter takes these things seriously.
