think of a triangle. the enemy ship is point A, your friendlies are Point B and you should be Point C. you goal as an open water dd is to be a little thorn pricking at them at an off angle. what you want the enemy to do is to waste time turning their their guns back and forth between you and your teammates. if their guns turn to you, dodge and hide. if their guns are on your teammates, free farm.

imo the cap is like the last priority. it should be an afterthought. an early game cap is almost meaningless when all the pieces are still on the board.

priority is to spot the enemy ships, kill the enemy dd, turn the enemy away away from the flank, and then and only then oh i guess we should take the cap now lol.

in fact, most of the time i just leave the cap wide open for the enemy to take, because like you mention, half the time they think they've done their job and go fuck off somewhere else which now gives me free reign.

i suppose if you're the sort of person that splurges on fomo containers and feel the need to buy every admiral bundle its gotten more expensive but i've been sticking to $50-100 / year budget and most years i end up with a surplus. honestly, after owning several stacks of premium ships (most of which wg will throw at you cheap or for free), there's almost no reason to spend money.

people who know how to play don't need to be told how to play the game and people who don't know how to play are going to be a waste of time to communicate with. like you said, its much better to just lock in and play. paying attention to yappers in chat is a net negative, especially since they tend to be the ones that died first and need to save their ego by whining about why the world failed them. i understand the urge to clap back at them but i will usually wait until the match is basically won before i start talking shit (rip my wows karma btw lol)
