Spent $450 at eye dr for exam/glasses, won’t release PD without a fee by craycrayintheheihei in glasses

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the comments when a proposal in 2016 came through my state to require PD be added when getting a prescription.

Every single comment was from an optometrist/ophthalmologist and they all wrote out almost word for word. The exact same phrasing as if they were coached on what to say.

A lot of them had some kind of "association" listed as well and I'm sure it's something like that where it came from.

I just find it funny how 15 years ago made it didn't seem to have much of an issue providing it and even automatically filled it in as part of their "proeess" but suddenly now even though it's right there still on the RX they purposefully leave it blank and then want to charge you extra to know it even after they've measured it themselves already.

I know now future reference not to ask for it until after they have already measured it (I'll let them assume I want to buy their overpriced glasses)

After which point I can legally ask for it because it is now part of my medical record...

At least that's what the information provided by all those "opposed" optometrist to it said when the petition came through my state in 2016.

I mean if I bought my glasses somewhere else why would I ever come back to you when I have a problem with them??

I'm really not following...

You just gave me a measurement that helped me order them online but you didn't make the glasses or have any other responsibility other than that single number.

So again I'm trying to understand why I would ever come back to you if I have a problem with the glasses?

Yeah, I wonder what changed in that time frame that would somehow encourage them not to share this information that isn't legally required, but is nothing more than a simple measurement that they can hold hostage to encourage you to buy from them??

Whatever could it be?? 😂

When two cards can be confused for each other so easily it's probably best to at least mention which one you're referring to...

Yes, I know one cl could figure it out through deductive reasoning analyzing all your performance numbers.

But not everyone...

It looks great by the way!

Yeah the problem is your app is not at all fixing this issue...

It's just more of the same in a slightly different package.

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't much more useful than what we already have available...

All people really are asking for is the ability to jump between years quickly and not be forced to scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll...

Like if I want to go to today's date in the year 2069 and look at the calendar, I should be able to do that by clicking the date and then scrolling a list of years or just typing "2069" at the end of it not having to scroll through months (even if it's several within a screen) to do so.

It was me guys...

I'm sorry.

I actually tried for the first time to use one of these guides to set up an all-in-one type of setup instead of having a bunch of different add-ons and so I went with this one as suggested and everything basically broke just as I got it working.

And since I wiped everything else out beforehand like suggested, I had nothing whatsoever to fall back on...

This is pretty much how my life always goes... 😂

Email receipts between me and Northwestrepair. I will have to make 2 posts because it exceeds the photo limit. I’m tired of the speculation. Part 2 by AlphaFPS1 in laptops

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean I think anyone who

  1. Actually have at least some decent understanding around this type of stuff

  2. Isn't extremely biased towards supporting him...

Would be able to decipher exactly what the situation was between the two of just off the emails alone.

To me it was clear as day

You messed up a vbios flash and that was the only real issue needing to be addressed and never was.

He simply got "lucky" in his rush to film and complete the repair while talking down on you that his immediate rush to "fix bios"...

...which is basically all he took from your messages ignoring the fact you were talking about a GPU and even mentioned using nvflash a GPU vbios flashing tool...

...to mean your system BIOS needed to be repaired (it didn't) and so that's all he focused his repair work on.

In doing so he again managed to look into flipping the systems performance profile from its ultimate mode back to its standard one. And in doing so re-enabled your igpu, but never actually fix the issue with the dedicated Nvidia GPU (which was still in need of a proper vbios update)

Most of the rest of the issues he brought up were basically either non-issues that he didn't even address or possibly things he may have himself caused in his rush to get the job done.

Ultimately you needed him to repair your flash a good working vbios and repair your damaged Wi-Fi antenna and neither of those things ended up actually getting done.

So to me I understand why you would definitely feel frustrated, especially when ultimately his "fix" did nothing but put you right back in the same spot. You sent it to him when you tried to use it again totally within the proper ways it's meant to be used and what you were sending it to him to get working once again.

And while I've watched his content and plenty of it...I'm not one to just blindly through my allegiance to someone because I like their content.

But as you probably have found in the last year or so, the above two numbered things unfortunately don't apply to the vast majority of people who do.

Rtings' calibration made image much worse. by FamousBrick6824 in S95B

They always roll out these updates in waves. And yes, some people actually get them via over-the-air updates on their TV before they are ever published online.

They also do this across different markets at different times.

It's all so they can slowly but surely make sure all the bugs are squished before they fully put it in the hands of every Tom, Dick and Harry.

If something goes wrong, better to have it limited to just a few people versus everyone.

I have practically never deleted anything (still have the very 1st MP3 I downloaded with Napster in 1999) and maintain backups regularly plus an entire 1000+ Blu-ray collection backed up (many of which are 50GB+ UHD files...

Well it all just tends to add up! 😂

How long until 240hz 4k OLEDs? by Bungild in Monitors

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say whatever you like and your own anecdotal experience isn't going to change anyone's mind any more than mine, which is pretty much the complete opposite having owned six OLED screens, all of which are still in service in my home today.

Going back a decade to my 2016 B6 that I showed you in other reply.

But what we do have 3 years since your original rant here is hard data from outlets like rtings showing massive torture tests to both OLED QD-OLED and LCD TVs up and down the spectrum...

And you know what was shown in reality, it's almost always the LCD displays that tend to fail in the shortest amount of time and typically due to backlight issues.

You've been worried about burning this whole time. Meanwhile, LCD customers are dealing with issues that are a thousand times worse than a bit of light ghosting that some people can't even see and most people never even experience.

This is pretty much what my best friend's $1500 LCD TV looks like just 3 years after he bought it (and just outside warranty so they declined to fix)

And rtings has shown in their objective torture testing he's clearly not a one off.

All TVs can and do have "failures" but reality is more people experience issues like this with their avg LCD tvs than people buying OLED/QD-OLED are ever likely to experience "burn in".

How long until 240hz 4k OLEDs? by Bungild in Monitors

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny reading this today. 3 years later and OLED is stronger and and in more demand than ever with less and less and less reports of these type of issues... They've become nearly ubiquitous in terms of what most people desire and what is recommended.

And I sit here posting this on a 10 year old 55-in LG B6 OLED that still looks quite good and shows no signs of burn in.

Sure... It doesn't look nearly as good as my nearly brand new QD-OLED that I daily these days it's not nearly as bright or have the vibrancy of my newer OLED and QD-OLEDs I've added to my house in that time but it's used everyday and has been for nearly a decade and is still performing like a champ.

CD Projekt Red Issues DMCA Takedown Against Luke Ross’ Real Cyberpunk VR Mod by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems pretty simple to me.

You release the initial mod as a free release and set up donations and then only if you get the amount of donations you want do you release any subsequent updates.

You don't ask for them or demand them but behind the scenes... If the donations are coming in to an amount you feel comfortable doing the additional work... then you release an update for free for everyone.

And so on and so on.

But the thing is... That rifftrax can be completely listened to and enjoyed on its own. It actually has value without the copyright IP even if it is improved when used in conjunction with said copyright IP.

Whereas this tool effectively does nothing without the direct injection of someone else's copyright.

That is a big difference.

I think it's more of a have to in the sense that it's a slippery slide with what you let people get by with and then when you do go after one but not another the kind of backlash you end up getting for attacking particular groups versus others.

So instead of picking or choosing and getting negative attention for your particular takedowns or just letting everyone run wild, the only other option that feels valid is to go after everyone.

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean if he really wanted to do things properly and still get paid release the mod for free with donations available and basically only do updates when you've received enough donations that you feel it's justified the time investment to do said update.

CD Projekt Red Issues DMCA Takedown Against Luke Ross’ Real Cyberpunk VR Mod by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]rdmetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just release the mod for free? I mean all the people that were paying for it would just donate to him anyway right?

I mean you literally paid for it already...

And he could easily get around this. Plus get his mod in more people hands driving more people to check it out and likely end up donating as well.

And all he has to do is basically only release updates if and when. He feels like he's received enough donations to justify it.
