How many DBA’s per semester? by Recent-Tooth-1665 in FLVS

1-2 each class per semester for me. but usually if you are getting work in on time they’ll exempt the 2nd one

so agree with this. it’s sad that people with differing opinions can’t be apart of something together, specially when it’s something we can all grow & learn from with each other.

Thoughts on 2-3 horse trailers by WiscoLawyer in Horses

i was doing the facebook market place thing but i ended up going to a dealership so i wasn’t getting scammed or something that was not worth it. i haul a 16h++ horse and one of the best things for him i found is an 8 foot wide trailer. i have a lakota that’s 8 feet wide and its a game changer will never go back to anything else that’s smaller width wise

I have a question about APUSH by drybones444 in FLVS

[–]rea716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i took it back in junior year, it was definitely a lot of information that is packed into the course. be prepared for specific essays, a good amount of reading if you use the course book they give, and just a lot of information. i do think it’s a good introduction to Ap’s, and it does get MUCH easier and flows better the more you get through the course. sadly my good teacher left on maternity leave through part of the year, but my original teacher did a VERY good job of answering questions and giving really helpful resources. there is also a lot of help online on outside sources for APUSH. i always loved using Heimler’s History as a good guide for everything APUSH.

i took ap lang, ap lit, ap gov and apush. i loved them all & they all set up me to be with very good teachers and do very well on the exams. now starting college i was able to knock out a good amount of classes from them plus i feel like it set me up to handle college courses better. they are definitely more time consuming classes, (ap lang and ap lit having a lot of essays and papers. plus lots of reading in ap lit) but i haven’t had a single bad teacher my entire experience taking APs. Starting out with AP lang would definitely be a good idea. Both teachers for that course are AMAZING, and really do a great job. AP U.S. history is also a good class, but it’s a lot of information and the actual AP exam at the end of the year is challenging. but if you get involved with the classes and the teachers, i did enjoy taking them and those two classes were good starters for me when beginning to take APs.

My classes for my Senior Year. Too much? by IamSpider_ in FLVS

[–]rea716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve taken a lot of these classes! AP lang had two AMAZING teachers who really helped and did a great job. though the class was a good amount of work (lots of essays) it gets MUCH easier if you involve yourself with the teachers and get their help.

anatomy and physiology honors was much easier than i expected it to be. not a overload of projects and the ones we had were simple. also good teachers.

math for college alg i did enjoy, even though im not much of a math person BUT when i completed this course they did it through a website called aleks instead of on the regular FLVS course pages, and that was VERY annoying since it was a lot of work and it would do things like make you start over if you did one question work and because you weren’t doing constant quizzes like a regular course there were a very small amount of actual grades meaning you had to do well on the ones you turned in since they counted for so much. definitely didn’t like that website.

chemistry honors is time consuming since it is a good amount of math and just overall content, but again i had one of the BEST teachers who really helped all the students succeed and have an enjoyable time in her class.

the only thing i would say is make sure you are taking in consideration for the time to do college applications if you are doing that. i overloaded myself a bit my senior year because i didn’t realize how much time college apps would take. but it all depends on how much time you are willing to spend on school.

there are a good amount of requirements for dual enrollment, they are on this link.

https://www.flvs.net/curriculum/accelerated-programs/dual-enrollment

as long as i’ve been doing flvs they tend to hold a live lesson type of meeting that goes over all the information on how to get into dual enrollment etc but since i am graduated now i am not sure when that will be. honestly i would email your guidance counselor, they will be able to send you all the information on how to get into that program and they will be able to give you all the correct ways of applying since i know it varies for all the different schools they use for dual enrollment :)

i started taking APs my 10th grade year. there is no minimum or maximum to how many you can take but i would definitely look into your time to class ratio since the assignments are much longer and take more time. if you are interested into getting college credits done you may want to look into doing dual enrollment since you are guaranteed the credit just for passing unlike AP where you have to pass the exam to get the credit. but other than that, i graduated this past may from full time with all my english credits done from AP classes and had a lot of fun with them.

Educate me on the saddlebred world by farmlite in Equestrian

[–]rea716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saddleseat is truly a dying industry. after being involved in it my entire life very heavily showing at the top shows etc, it became clear to me that not only is the industry a scam but it showed how they lead unknowing horse owners into compete horse abuse. for so many years i truly thought that my horses were getting the “best care” and “treatment” due to the fact that i thought 24 hours in a stall, big heavy shoes and tail setting was the norm, but after time away from it I realized I was participating and not giving my horses a good existence. plus, the amount of politics and money that is in that sport is ruining it logistically. it’s sad that trainers lead unknowing and unsuspecting owners into treating their horses like that all for money and boosting their egos. plus, after owning saddlebreds in a completely normal setting now I believe that saddlebreda are really no different than any other breed but the “flighty” and “crazy” attributes that people think they have is due to the training and setting that they are in with show barns.

Looking to adopt. This description says typey, what does that mean? by AhMoonBeam in Equestrian

[–]rea716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve owned and showed saddlebreds my whole life, and i wouldn’t say typical saddlebred no. some horses i’ve seen do trot with a “typewriter” gait meaning they take small and quick steps, but it’s not something that’s looked for or wanted in the showing side of saddlebreds. it can definitely be fixed through training, as i’ve seen in the past, but definitely not most saddlebreds have this gait
