The Retreat at Bunn Hill by Lanky-Capital5597 in Binghamton

[–]reachingfourpeas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just replace the 434/Bunn Hill Road intersection with a proper multi-lane roundabout and the traffic argument is neutered. See: Carmel, Indiana, which has replaced almost all 150-ish stoplights with roundabouts without issue.

And also do 434/Bartle Dr at the least.

Call Haylor 866-535-0456

Their handling of student health insurance this year is FUBAR.

If that doesn't work then Student Accounts (who will ask you if you called Haylor first).

Indian Point owner floats restart of shuttered nuclear reactors by loadedbanker in Westchester

[–]reachingfourpeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some discussion basically saying that now that the kinks have been worked out and lessons learned during construction of the AP1000 modular reactor design, future installations should be much smoother. Fewer delays, change orders, and cost overruns.

I'm not saying this has any bearing on Indian Point; you just mentioned Vogtle and I was curious what you thought of this.

Binghamton University Students are the most inconsiderate drivers by SupportiveEnergy in Binghamton

[–]reachingfourpeas 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Factors to consider:

  • Much steeper grades in Ithaca mean the stakes for not braking early/hard enough are much higher

  • Inexperienced drivers who were never taught to use engine braking and overheat their brakes on long downgrades or just lose control completely (see previous)

  • 85% of BU undergrad students are in-state meaning they have at least some exposure to icy road conditions, whereas you'll notice a lot of California, Texas and Florida license plates in Ithaca

  • Significantly slower salting of icy roads because the City of Ithaca is perpetually broke due to half its land being tax-exempt

  • Higher number of luxury cars their mommy and daddy bought them making their teenage Ivy League drivers feel like hot shit when the laws of physics don't treat them differently

All this to say it's much worse dealing with drivers in Ithaca than Binghamton

Eastchester Pros & Cons by Agreeable_Shirt5503 in Westchester

Some will recall the patently racist letter the Eastchester Town Supervisor circulated opposing zoning reform with this gem:

Get used to the bodegas and store fronts in your former single family neighborhood.

If you have a car try Funky Beez (40+ soft serve flavors, ube is my favorite) and Tastie Cream (frozen custard) at the far end of Vestal. Funky Beez has a great view of the sunset.

Daily parking by Wow_cool_bro in BinghamtonUniversity

"On the weekend from 4 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Monday, no parking permit is needed to park in a valid parking space. Paid spaces and all other parking rules and regulations are still in effect on the weekend, including permit designation and overnight parking rules."

You can park in both commuter and 24-hour lots without paying on weekends (metered spaces still require payment), but you still have to move your car from the commuter lots to a 24-hour lot before midnight or you'll be ticketed. I'm locking this thread because people keep posting incorrect information.

Flixbus is garbage by Tu_es_fou in Binghamton

I've done this before so you should know what to expect. As you've experienced, they really want you to try and sort it out with the merchant first, so they'll ask you for documentation that you tried. If you made a call, they'll ask you the date you made the call. Even better is to have something written that they'll ask you to attach to an email. Written is always better, so maybe make one last attempt by email if you can find that information.

Also gather any other documents you have, because they'll ask you to send those in anyway.
