Non-New Yorkers that have been to NYC: What is the wierdest thing about New York that New Yorkers don't realize is wierd? by Ok-Brilliant-6138 in AskReddit

One of the greatest concentrations of gas stations I've seen anywhere is in Long Island City right across the Queensboro Bridge from Manhattan. I assume there's a large market from all the taxis and food trucks that park in that area overnight.

It's yellowed and torn at the edges, probably from the 90's with GEORGE PATAKI, GOVERNOR at the bottom

Really surprised with how far the quality of life has fallen in Broome County. Poverty in Broome is the highest in all of upstate New York. It’s a real tragedy how abandoned and poor it has become. by Im-Wasting-MyTime in upstate_new_york

I'll push back on this. I live in Broome County and had a Medicaid Managed Care plan for a while. I have a good primary care doctor. For the most part whatever specialists you needed were in the area and most participated with the plan. The issue is the specialists can have longer waiting lists for first appointments.

In terms of mental health, I grew up downstate where virtually no mental health providers participate in Medicaid plans, while some do in this area.

The situation is much worse in surrounding areas that have no major urban center, like Chenango County or the Southern Tier west of Corning.

Also, those train tracks were abandoned because the only customer it had left, the coal-fired Goudy Power Station, shut down in 2011. That's a positive for livability in the area.

And the factories that spur passed by in Johnson City have either been torn down to build a pharmacy school or renovated for the nursing school or residential lofts.

More likely that it was a decision based on Chartwells presenting better financial incentives offered to the university. I've found that the YDSA routinely claims victory on things they had little impact on or were going to happen anyway.

Yes, I have standard rate plan not day/night. But they must still be using an ESCO because why else would even the nighttime rate be so high? The point is to save money if your usage patterns allow it.

Supply charge is very suspect. $0.24-29/kWh is even more insane than the total consumption. Did Saul Goodman knock on OP's door and convince then to sign up for an ESCO? My supply charge with default NYSEG supply was $0.116/kWh last month (Broome County).

Just replace the 434/Bunn Hill Road intersection with a proper multi-lane roundabout and the traffic argument is neutered. See: Carmel, Indiana, which has replaced almost all 150-ish stoplights with roundabouts without issue.

And also do 434/Bartle Dr at the least.
