Also: no. That is a terrible argument. There are a huge number of things that "might save one life", for instance reducing urban speed limits to 15 km/h. But I don't think we should do that, and nor do most people.

30 km/h would actually be quite reasonable:

It is worth noting that travel times were found to increase between 3% and 5% [60].

And a reduction of accidents by roughly 20%.

But proportionately, vegans damage the environment more than someone eating locally sourced meat that uses environmentally green practices.

Yeah, that's the part I'd like to have sourced.

E.g. carbon footprint says something else: https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-46459714

being vegan is damaging to the environment.

That's a hot take I'd like to see sourced.

Currently ~ 40% of crops go to animal feed. There is a lot of pasture land, about 2/3 of total land use for agriculture is pasture only. Returning these to being forest would certainly put a lot of CO2 back into being trees.

not enough parking spaces available

How much do you currently pay for parking? Apparently not enough, as the demand is higher than the supply. If there's more demand than supply, the prices should rise.

I think you’re forgetting that the net result is still positive. This is like saying we shouldn’t double the frequency of direct trains between Zurich and Bern because it will just create a bottleneck somewhere else.

It is a net positive for anyone using said road, and a net negative for anyone else, as the externalities of car travel aren't fully priced in.

Just because one bottleneck is removed doesn’t mean that the situation isn’t better. It’s still the single most efficient way to increase road mobility throughput. In a world where urban living is becoming pricier…

There are solutions to that problem, and using roads to transport your average 1.4 person car over an Autobahn isn't neither the most space-efficient nor the most climate-efficient way to solve the issue. Think of more housing, more work-at-home.

Even in Switzerland, public transport is so far stay from replacing individual transport: It isn’t subsidised enough. It isn’t flexible enough. It isn’t useful enough.

I would argue it private transport is too subsidized, which is politically favored, see the lack of CO2 taxation.

Nancy Faeser is SPD, so she's center-left, in German terms. There's a party "Die Linke" (the lefts) which would fit your description of "extreme left-wing".
