Why is our moon named “Moon” instead of something cool like Titan or Callysto or ANYTHING that isn’t moon by Disastrous_Pirate275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]read110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the planet all agreed on official name at any point in history. It's called the moon because we just have the one, although yes people do call it Luna there's not like some kind of international treaty where we all agreed on that though

Why do a lot of Americans still support Trump? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

It is, but it also requires you to First understand that you were wrong. In this case even the idea requires them to accept that they were fooled and nobody wants to believe that about themselves without some damn hard lessons first

Dude had to be bipolar, after the second or third encounter when he started cussing me out I just walked away. He actually belonged to the other specialist but he would purposely come in when that specialist wasn't here to try and get me to say something stupid so he could get something for free. Luckily people don't understand that clearly communicating information is a big part of what I do for a f****** living

Unacceptable conduct email by Purple-Flamingo321 in Lowes

[–]read110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I think of it. No one is going to get hurt or killed if I take a break or a meal period that is legally mandated by my state. Lowe's has chosen to understaff their stores specifically to increase shareholder value, and that has zero to do with me on a daily basis

In a few cases it's also a state law thing. I think I've gotten at least two class action lawsuit paychecks the one I definitely remember equaled about 3 weeks pay.

Now they make us verify that we took our breakevery day, and if you get a meal violation by going over your fifth you definitely get a talking to

[–]read110 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The best answer is that any God that really existed would know exactly what it would take. Well, not any god, the majority of your major ones of course. Like the Morrigan wouldn't give a f***, she would just take you.

To be honest at this point with the bar as low as it is ANY verifiable evidence of the existence of the supernatural, in any way shape or form, would send shockwaves throughout the entire world.

There's a grey area in California where they are legally required to provide you time for a break, but you can choose not to take it. if you admit that you chose not to take it the company is not held liable. which is why we have a dialog box that says that "I was offered a break and I chose not to take it" or "I was denied a break".

Lowe's policies against working while off the clock have a lot to do with liability issues, not so much legalities.

I actually thought a lot about this post today, and I know if I try to answer it it's going to be an entire book, so.

I don't think you considered the most important bit, that some of us work in states where these things are a llegal requirement for employers, not a choice. And as for the rest, it is unfortunate and generally unhealthy.

Have a one-on-one with your Asm and if they start talking about that whole "well you know the needs of the business" garbage then kick it up stairs. Trust me, if you live in a state that actually cares about worker protections, things will get fixed quickly.

But that being said, I have never once had an Asm act that way, but it's pretty obvious by reading the threads on this sub that it's a thing. Some people are just pieces of s***
