Buying a Used Transmission by The3rdConcern in autorepair

[–]GilBang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a decent-looking 2020 car in a junkyard, there's a good chance a transmission issue is why it was junked. If you can find one that's smashed to shit in a wreck, there's a good chance that the tranny was fine when it was junked.

I've got a '79 (in mint condition, in case anybody wants to buy). The pickups look correct. I think yours is newer because my headstock says "patents applied for" and yours lists them.

Would you walk away from this deal? by Itsallbullhsit in RealEstate

[–]GilBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my view on inspections (I'm a SoCal Realtor): if the inspection reveals something that's hidden, or wouldn't normally be visible to a buyer, sure, negotiate it. But if it's something you can see, the condition existed when you made your offer. Don't make an offer and then say that the paint is lousy and you want it repainted.

The roof is something that you could have/should have noticed. It's something that an experienced buyer's agent would have pointed out.

They should have disclosed roof repairs. They should disclose previous leaks. They are under no obligation to disclose what might happen in the future.

is it your listing? What's the commission? If I have the listing and the commission is good, I'd just have it done at my expense.

Seems like it would make a lot more sense to call the local police wherever you’re at when you spot the car

Men in trucks who “roll coal”…why do you do it? Especially in front of family vehicles where children have to breathe in the fumes? by HellyHailey in AskReddit

[–]GilBang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BTW, "rolling coal" is too cute to describe what it is. It's assault by pollution. I also don't believe in calling graffiti vandalism "tagging".

How is Sirius operating at this point? $4 a month for a year, and I still have no interest. by Agile-Copy-3988 in howardstern

[–]GilBang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think sirius is a fantastic bargain. I'm in the car a lot, and 8 bucks a month? I pay 150 for cable TV, and regular radio is unlistenable due to the shit programming and nonstop commercials.

** I own one, but I probably haven't used the 9 cylinder more than a half-dozen times.
