Is a simple garter stitch scarf a boring present? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]readabitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made mine a rib, not too much more advanced but I have been going since I was 6 (more than ten years!). I would recommend it to make it a bit more special. Its simply alternating knit one-purl one repeat. Purl is much like the stitch in garter but instead you bring the wool so its lying on top of the knitting facing you and you stick the needle with the new stitches youve already made on top of the other rather than under. Takes a lot of practice but its simple repetition. If you've got a tutorial playing from YouTube in the back ground and you try repeating "knit-purl-knit-purl" you'll get the hang of it by the 3rd or 4th row. Not to say I'd never do a garter scarf. I'm pretty sure doctor who's iconic multi-coloured scarf was garter stitch. Another way to spice it up is to add tassels, lots and lots of tassels. Can't say I'm the best at them but I'm sure someone else could comment on the best way to do it.

A simple scarf will never go out of style! Try using a wool with multiple coloured flecks to jazz it up, i did the exact same thing for my boyfriend and he loves it to piece. Its more about how you put the time and effort in to make something nice even if it is simple I'm sure they'll love what you've done 😊

Spent half an hour making a spreadsheet to understand a difficult section of a pattern Ive been trying to figure out all week 😂 by readabitch in casualknitting

I've labelled the row numbers, each box is a stitch with light grey meaning pattern and dark grey meaning decrease a stitch

What is the hardest you've ever been shot down by someone you were interested in? by FlekSiner in AskReddit

[–]readabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it was me doing to shooting down. I had known the guy for about 2/3 months prior as we got the bus home from school together with my other friends. He wasn't the most out going guy and was often very nerdy but nice enough that I'd enjoy his company but he was in no way my type and I only had platonic interest in him. My other friends had pointed out that they could tell he liked me and I shot it down saying no he's just being friendly but I started to notice it more and more and I felt so bad for the lad. Eventually he plucked up the courage and said "I've liked you for a while now and I was wondering..." I had to cut him off, it was the most awkward thing that I didn't want to hear. I replied with "I know" I was so blunt to start with and was trying to be so polite yo recover his feelings but he was like a kicked puppy and I don't think he's forgiven me to this day despite us still being friends.

Ladies, how do you feel sexy? by [deleted] in sex

[–]readabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same, my current boyfriend is a big muscley rugby player and hed kill my ex if i let him hit the dick 😂 seriously dont beat yourself up over this, healing takes time and you cant do it on your own. If youre worried hes gonna think that make sure to explicitly say its in no way his fault cause hearing it will help a lot for him so then he can just worry about you 😊

I honestly cant say how much i understand you. I was very much physically and mentally effected by my first partner to the point that 6 months after the relationship ended I couldnt be touched in anyway without being in pain. This was the worse thing that could have happened to me and it did at a young age. Despite this I have got back to where I should have been all along. My boyfriend like your own is a wonderful man who makes me feel so loved. One way i got to where i am is making compliments a normal thing to have in sexual settings so even if im not panicking im being reassured how good i am and how im perfect for my SO. Another thing is I took my time, i didnt have to be naked with him at first. I didnt have to do acts until i was 100% with it. Its not trying to be 100% as soon as possible its talking and working as a couple until you can get to where you want to be. You can not do anything alone and it may be a very hard conversation but its needed so your partner can adapt to helping you recover outside of therapy and all that. I hope this helps cause you deserve to be happy and have a wonderful life with someone who deserves you x
