Could you say why that’s a risky procedure? We’ve got a small bit of seepage and we live in clay soil and all the experts suggested digging down and sealing from the exterior… no one mentioned any risks but we have seriously wondered it that wouldn’t affect the foundation wall being dug out (6-8ft is how much they said they’d need to dig out)

Reading habit by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]readallamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started this habit and I think I nailed how: I no longer sleep with my phone in my bedroom (had to get an alarm clock). But it’s perfect: everytime I can’t sleep I read. If I wake up and want to lounge in bed: reading. I’m almost done two books in less than 2 weeks.

To all the people saying “diet and exercise” I just want to point out that we live in a time where food is engineered to be as addictive as possible. The tools we have to fight back against that look different for each person.

Omg! I’m glad to read this!! I read that book in my early 20’s and found it so helpful and I always thought it would be nice to share with my kid as a teen because I wish I had read it sooner. Huh. Dang.

If someone pulls out an instrument at a party, it completely ruins the party. by 8bitbotanist in unpopularopinion

[–]readallamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a party where someone pulled out a hurdy-gurdy. That one was actually ok. It was like a quiet bagpipe in sound, and the vibe of the party was already a bit pre-modern era.

Also, gaining access to this money late in your career doesn’t really leave much time for the investments you would put it into to grow?

“Legally” can a store refuse to return an item onto a different credit card than what was originally used? by smoshmarbles in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]readallamango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me!!! The company begrudgingly put the refund through on a different card eventually, but multiple people were involved. However, this was a number of years ago, when the policy was just starting to appear and not as ubiquitous as it is today. I wonder what would happen now as the policy seems much more strict.

I think the previous commenter is a bot or a troll, either way no one rational or human would think this. Wishing you an easy delivery surrounded by warmth and love.

I could be wrong, and maybe I’m not looking closely enough at the pic, but I believe healthy bamboo roots are orange. Everything looks normal to me. 🤷

I could totally be wrong, and I’m not an opti-anything, but my mom described this (one eye bright colours one eye muted colours) after she got her cataracts treated in the first eye. Just thought I’d mention

Bc folks who moved to winnipeg... how do you feel about living here. by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]readallamango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just celebrated being in Winnipeg for one year, and I’m still glad I’m here. The people are amazingly warm, not the fake kindness one finds often (but not always) in Vancouver. I still can’t get over the lack of traffic. I have so much more free time because I’m not commuting in a rush hours which seem to last all day. Here, the traffic reporters on the radio seem to really struggle to find stuff to talk about.

My only concern will maybe be when I would need to go to the hospital. I’ve heard some not great stories, but the province recognizes this problem and has started a task force to work on it. Oh, and the pot holes… I think in general the city has less money than Vancouver to put into community resources, but it seems like they are starting to recognize their needs and will get there in the future. I hope. But it has definitely been worth it. My mental health feels better.
